I was 100% IP foods for phase 1 & 2 and now in P3 & maintenance I'm switching to EAS shakes and will try some pure protein bars. Both are sold right up the street at Target. The EAS chocolate shake is not as tasty (IMO) as IP's but I can get use to it...after all I got use to IP's chocolate drink and fell in love with it! :)

MrsChill 04-11-2012 11:37 AM

Strictly IP with only drinks. I personally wasn't a fan of the soups and such and I am a HUGE creature of habit so I like my daily routine of drinks, salads and suppers.

ProteinGal 04-11-2012 11:49 AM

So far, strictly IP products.

lindsayk86 04-11-2012 11:57 AM

For 5 months I was strictly IP. Lost 60 pounds. But now due to money I have recently switched to using Alternatives. I am still losing and the taste doesn't bother me, I see no difference. This is a whole lot more convenient. I plan on using alternatives until the end of june to see where I am at. Take the summer off and then if money allows me I will hop back into IP Products for the remainder of my losses in the fall.

I am slowly making the switch from IP over to alternatives because of the cost. I have been using both for the past few weeks and I am down a total of 27 in just 9 weeks!! So I would say it is not affecting my weight loss!

The EAS Low Carb drinks are pretty good IMO, I have tried them all, but my favorites are Milk Chocolate Fudge and Strawberry. They really seem to fill me up! I also ordered a few products from Nashua Nutrition that have been decent so far!! I typically have two EAS Dinks a day and one BAR of some sort, either IP or from Nashua Nutrition. Somedays I have 3 EAS shakes. Still follow the rest of the IP protocol.

The Proti-Thin Chocolate Covered Soy balls seem to be the same as IP.
The Proti-Diet Maple Brown Sugar Oatmeal also is pretty good and with only 6carbs and 15protein, I believe it counts as a NON restricted??

I was looking for a replacement for the IP Choc Raspberry bar(my favorite) and I tried the Proti-Diet Raspberry Choc Square. Not quite the same but good!

If anyone knows of any alternatives for the IP Southwest Cheese puffs I would love to hear from you :)

I do a combo of IP and alternative now. However, this is my second time on IP.

The first time I was on IP, I used 100% IP foods.

Then I moved and in my new location, we have clinic which is largely unmanned and doesn't store any product. This clinic is a doctor's office and the IP person is rarely there. I had some leftover IP food from my first time on the diet (and still using that - I did buy a lot) but much of that was restricted foods as my coach at my old home pushed the restricted goods because they taste better. She wasn't strict at all.

In my new location, I tried to be 100% IP but they lost my order the second week and it took days to get more soup (my staple).

Things did not get better. After losing my order, I looked at alternatives so I would have food. Started with a small order. I meanwhile tried to work with my IP clinic but they would get busy, would forget to return calls, so placed a larger order with nashuanutrition.

My rate of weight loss has been identical both times.

I'm alternatives...

I'm only 19 days in on this weight loss plan. I started with IP intending to stay 'strictly IP' for at least a month or so, but switched to alternative products after I'd completed my first week. So far so good. WI #2 was today... 3 lbs lost, for a total of 10 lbs lost.

Andie0606 04-11-2012 02:29 PM

Mostly IP

I have 1 EAS AdvantEDGE Carb Control shake per day for my snack but everything else is IP. I have a bar for breakfast with unsweetened hot tea and a soup for lunch with salad and water.

SaraBean 04-11-2012 02:55 PM

I use both IP and alternatives.

I think the IP products are better quality though. I don't feel as hungry during the day.

Ip

LSJ100 04-11-2012 08:28 PM

Strictly IP

Samba 04-11-2012 08:34 PM

IP for me since the beginning.

My son is using alternatives and losing along with me.

JoesHotWife 04-11-2012 09:02 PM

Strictly IP

idealme 04-11-2012 09:48 PM

Both! I like to mix and match for variety :) Both work exactly the same for me....the only difference? The price obviously lol

wendyquilts 04-12-2012 12:04 AM

I do a combination, but probably 3/4 alternatives and the rest IP. My husband is pretty strictly IP but has tried a few of my alternatives and may start using some of the Proti soups.

I love the white chocolate cinnamon bars from IP, so I'll continue to buy those until I'm done. Otherwise I'm perfectly happy with the EAS drinks and bars most of the time, along with an occasional Proti product for a little variety.

ETA: I have been losing really well, averaging over five pounds per week, so I'd say it's working well.

lkp888 04-12-2012 02:03 AM

100% Ip

Alaskaipjourney 04-12-2012 02:18 AM

I was strictly IP until I originally hit my goal. Once on maintenance I bought alternative products. I would say that IP definetly tastes better. Although some of the snacks on Nashua have identical nutritional facts.

whisperingshouts 04-12-2012 02:58 AM

At the moment I am strictly alternatives, and have had great success with it... I started off this journey finishing up the remaining IP packets I had, but with the price increase and the hubby joining me this time around we just couldn't afford to go 100% IP..

Billster 04-12-2012 03:44 AM

strictly IP

amyjo77 04-12-2012 07:11 AM

I use mostly alternatives, but I do get some IP products through my mom. I can't live without chocolate soy puffs!!

Pookiepotpie2 04-12-2012 07:44 AM

I use 90-95% IP the only thing I do outside of IP is shakes and bars I can find great alternatives for between $1 and $0.55 per serving opening my budget up to more exciting IP products (cheddar ridges yummy!!!!)

Nilouve 04-12-2012 08:04 AM

Strictly IP although I do plan to look into alternatives but only once I hit maintenance. Only reason; like most of us, is cost.

Danif 04-12-2012 08:13 AM

atkins products

In the past the Atkins products have stalled my weight loss. I am doing strictly IP products. The first week I was drinking power aid zero and that screwed me up I only lost 2 pounds but then lost 8 pounds the second week. Just started 3rd week and hoping for 3 to 4 pounds.

usmcvet 04-12-2012 08:37 AM

IP and Proto Thin.

lowrider04 04-12-2012 08:45 AM

strickly IP but hubby is using alternatives and has lost the same as me!

reason00 04-23-2012 12:06 PM

I'm still in Phase 1 of IP, lost 10 lbs. I'm going alternative after 6 weeks on IP because of the high cost. Now I can have more variety too. I must say, I've noticed that the Nashua products aren't equal in volume to IP. For example, I get 4 oz less of their egg omelett than I do with IP. I love IP's omelett and will miss it.

The IP omelet is much bigger and still less calories than two Nashua omelets

prettyone 04-23-2012 02:38 PM

Strictly IP

Mom2Four2011 04-23-2012 08:33 PM

I use strictly IP products as well but will be using alternatives once I'm in maintenance also!!!

The chocolate soy puffs on Nashua are the EXACT same as IP!

Nibblet 04-23-2012 11:09 PM

I've been strictly IP but just made an order for some Protidiet products. I checked the nutritional info using the charts you nice ladies provided. Due to costs, it's just hard to continue to buy IP if the alternatives are the same but half the price.

I'll see how it goes and if my weight loss becomes really slow, I'll probably switch back to just IP.
