My clinic does it with some kind of Ideal Protein machine. You stand holding the machine in your hands, elbows flexed at chest high and it tells the BMR as well as hydration. I'm sure there is a formula. I guess I am off to Googleville.

One way to increase BMR is to increase muscle mass.

Default Can we eat less than 8 oz meat?

I have been having a hard time eating a 1/2 pound of meat every night. Before IP, we would have meat 2-3 times/week, and never would I have eaten 8 ounces of it. I'm just wondering if I can spread it out, or could I even just eat 5 ounces? Are there any others who have the same issue?

Also, I feel like 2 eggs is way easier than 1/2 pound of hamburger, but I don't think I could do eggs every night either.

you could split it between your lunch and dinner

Eggs are easier, and cheaper, but 2 eggs only have 12.6 grams of protein; very lean meat can have close to 4 times that amount of protein. Just saying.

Wuv - if I did this, would I still have an Ideal Protein (or alternative) with lunch as well?

You can put the hamburg meat into a salad and stir it up. that is what I do sometimes. You can also make hamburg patties and use lettuce leafs as the hamburger bun. That works and you can make lettuce leaf hamburgers, taco, and etc.

I've been one sick chick. Seem to be on the mend now but did managed to drop 3lbs this week. That's pretty good for laying bed for 2.5 days. Hope everyone is doing well. I am off to a 7 hour class.

I have some questions for all the helpful people on this thread. My husband is getting constipated, to the point where it's painful, and I'm wondering what he can do for fiber. He eats quite a bit of lettuce and has been drinking water faithfully. Are there certain veggies that would be better for him? Could he take any extra fiber (metamucil or anything like that)? I don't know how much longer he'll be on phase 1, but it looks like phase 2 isn't too much different.

Does anyone know if there are any syrups/dips/dressings besides Walden Farms that we can use - something that I could find at a store? I thought they carried them at Meijer (a Michigan chain store), but I checked w/the manager and they don't. Is the Smuckers sugar-free syrup okay? Or something like that?
I would also add a stool softener as well. I do not believe the Smuckers is carb free, but you would have to check the labels. You can order the Walden Farms on line. 8.90 for shipping up to 10 items and they are basically the same price as in the market.

Wuv,
I know that some where I have seen it posted maybe by yourself or another experienced IPer but I can seem to find what the daily allowances of carbs, fats, fiber, cal are per day per phase. I am now tracking these as I am anticipating phasing off 1 and headed into 2. But if you could post a link to it or if it is not too much trouble repost here it would be wonderful.
Thanks for all your help and support you give to all of us.

IP for 3 weeks. Just started TOM yesterday. What should I expect? I've read post where people referred to TOM, but not much in the details.

If you're retaining water because of TOM, your loss might be low or you may even have a gain. However, it will come off next week, and you'll probably have a bigger loss.
