The supportive coworkers and friends have made doing IP "fun" and helpful. I'm thankful that my family has been a huge support but I don't have anyone that has encouraged me to cheat.

FYI my goal of sharing wasn't to ask for Birthday wishes (but thank you to all anyway) but as an idea for all of us to be supportive of others around us to help them celebrate HEALTHY and still feel special.

One of the hardest things we did around here was to elimiate all the holiday candy/cookies in our events and to replace with veggies and other healthy items. It wasn't easy as many families still wanted those items brought in. But with the epidemic growth of childhood obesity we took a hard stance and it's paid off. The best part is now things like a Celery cake are possible. I know I'm in bit of a unique job setting but I hope that others can encourage everyone to live healthy. For me IP is just a way to drop the weight and being a lifestyle change that.

BTW the Celery was good, but was missing frosting :)

Hmmm - maybe frosted with IP butterscotch pudding!! LOL I was listening to the radio this morning about the ad campaigns that the different fast food restaurants use to attract children. Would it REALLY be that hard for them to serve up something nutritious and delicious? Why is it so hard to take the high road instead of what's going to make the most money for them. OK - going to get off the soap box now. :D

By the way :bday2you:

I am not sure if I should start a new thread for this, but does anyone have additional ideas for a healthy birthday treat/cake (including something, that guests who aren't doing IP, would enjoy)?

This thread is very inspiring!

love it! My birthday is next week and I just restarted IP - I'll have to do one of these to be in the spirit :)

April, Just some thoughts...
I have no problem with others having cake - I just don't. However when I go to parties now I take veggie trays with low cal/fat/carb dressing that I can find - (I won't punish people with the WF dressings as I'd like to be invited back). But we've made Deviled Eggs with the WF Honey Dijon and it worked very well.

To cut down on portions of sugary items we've gone to those "small" cupcakes instead of larger ones or big birthday cakes, we don't over buy either just enough for a treat.

Because we also have a staff member that avoids gluten we stick to more fresh fruits and veggies as we can. People get pretty creative when it becomes the norm. Good Luck!
