New to ip...please help
Hi i'm new to ip and i start tomorrow. Im excited and nervous. Im just wondering if anyone has any tips. Right now with my job i work 3 weeks at an oil field and a week off where i stay at a hotel. My concern is about dinner...I dont have access to an oven or stove when i stay at the hotel so I am wondering of anyone has any tips for preparation of meats for dinner? I picked up some fat free cooked ham and some canned tuna but im kind of at a loss of anything else. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Im 4'11" and currently about 170 lbs. Ive lost 60 lbs from ww already but have been at a stand still for last couple of months. Thanks so much.

U can use one of those small George for an grills to cook your meat on... or cook earlier and reheat. I had to do that for dinner tonight. Good luck!!!

Walmart has bags of chicken and steak that are 8oz bags for like $2.96 per serving. Its already precooked, its in the refrigeration section with the tenderloins usually they are made by Tyson. I lived off of those for the first few months, they don't need to be frozen. I would warm them up in the microwave and put on my salads. I would stay away from the ham or check the sodium, they usually have a lot of sodium. I stay away from the lunch meats except turkey, then I get it from the Deli, not prepackaged.

You can boil eggs in the coffee maker if it is the kind that you can control the heat. And I agree with Wuv -- best to avoid the deli meats. Too much salt and way too many preservatives. In a pinch, you could do a couple of days of boot camp: four packets and regular vegetables, salad, oil, and water.

Watch the deli meats - a lot of them have sugar. Do you have access to Boar's Head brand? They have roast beef, chicken and turkey options w/o sugar and w/o preservatives.
If you find deli meat that is ok, try making a "sandwich" from romaine lettuce leaves, meat, mustard and sprouts. Nice dinner and add your veggies = done! You can also use those lettuce leaves as taco shells for your own prepared meat. ;) A small foreman grill as mentioned may be just the ticket ... if you have a fridge, you could make up some foil "packets" for your hotel week and keep them in the freezer part. Take 1 out in the morning, when you return from work, pop it on the foreman grill and dinner is done. Suggestions: 1. fajita seasoned chix or beef w/ bell peppers (no cooked onion) in your "packet", then reheat on the grill and wrap in romaine leaves. 2. Roast beef slices w/ mushrooms and bell pepper, reheat, wrap in leaves. 3. Italian seasoned chicken. 4. Beef and broccoli w/ WF asian sauce. You get the idea! **I forgot to mention: Heating items on the grill in a foil packet makes cleaning the grill unnecessary. :D |
