Hi, all... I'm just outside Atlanta, GA... do I count as "southern" even though I grew up a Yankee?

I'm here. I stayed off the boards a while since I found most of the threads so frustrating to read. I know I can always count on my belles for a positive spin. So I read this one and the daily thread.
Saw my new coach again today. She had suggested last Friday that I was overkill on the water thus not letting my body absorb the necessary nutrients causing the slow loss. So, I started on 1/2 Pedialyte and cut down to no more than 100oz of water. So today I was down 1.5 pounds (in 2 weeks!) Sigh.... We'll see how this week goes.
Gettinmygroveback...she said you researched SmartWater.

Yes Mrs D you are welcome here!!.....actually anyone is welcomed. Just thought having a site for us Southern since we have to deal with a lot of food people don't really know about and where we can just talk about anything.
Celtic, glad to see you are back, I was kinda worried since we hadn't heard from you. So if you drink too much water it will slow your weight loss? That is interesting since I thought the more you drank the more you lose. Guess maybe I need to cut back on my water!

Hi everyone! Originally from Bunkie, LA here...but living in Arkansas (so still kind of south).
I'm still on maintenance and doing well. I love the free day, but it always feels good to get back to healthy food too.
Hope everyone stays safe and enjoys any cooler temps they get. My parents in Bunkie got lots of rain (11 inches, I think). The eye wall came within about 40 miles of them, but they were at least on the West side of the storm. They lost power for a couple of hours, but nothing worse than that, thanks goodness!

Glad to hear you are doing well on maintenance Cajun, I have read quite a few people stress about it but sounds like you have it under control. Also, glad to hear your parents we spared from damages with Lee.
Once you are from Louisiana you are ALWAYS a southerner....haha

Hi All!!
I'm new here but I'm in what I would consider to be the 'South'. We actually live in FL, but we're less than 10 miles away from Alabama. I grew up with a very southern family though. Excited to get started and get to my first WI!

IF you are asking me Stormy it has actually been not quiet 5 months. It will be 5 months Sept 27th. It has been easy and fun experimenting with all of the foods. I love it!

Boone, NC
I'm here from Boone, NC. 90 miles from closest clinic,so, doing this on my own as best I can. 5-6 pds lost 1st week. Now on day 12 - 2 days to week 2 weigh-in and haven't lost any more - hoping it falls off by Friday as I've rigorously stuck to it this week
Southern thread is as good idea !

Wow! I'll have to research the idea of too much water. I've been committed to 1 gallon per day for months now and not losing much. Week 1 on IP was about 6 pds but no loss this 2ns week.
Has anyone researched this idea? I've heard to cut your weight in half and that's how many oz one should drink per day, ideally. Right now that would be 94 oz for me per day- significantly less than the one gallon.
Do you think the water could really be hampering weight loss?

I am a very slow loser. Your second week slow loss can almost be expected as your body adjusts. Check and see if you are losing inches right now.
As far as the water....my coach consulted with the staff physiologist. He looked at my BMIs and suggested drinking too much water was washing out the necessary nutrients I needed. I was actually in the negative hyrdration zone. I drank a lot...a lot! of water but it was going right thru me. Now I am using SmartWater with electrolytes 1:1 ration with water. This will be my first full week of doing it so we shall see.

May I ask why you are "cutting" the Smartwater with regular? I've just decided to drink 2L split up 4 times per day plus my extra "regular" water.
