Just remind me of the good results I've had if I start to whine too much. ;)

Okay, I'm going to see if I can clear off my desk to a point that I can actually write.

Hope everything went well today for you at your dental appointment. That sounds like NO fun at all!

It's over and I'm alive but I'm certain there we will be sore jaws tomorrow. The meds are still making me a little loopy, but I'll survive. I have a follow up appointment in the morning.

how are you all doing now that you went back on plan? was it harder to restart?

I think your tomorrow is now today and I hope you had a (reasonably) good night and have an excellent follow-up. It must be a little rough.

Hi Callmesmall. Is it easier or harder? Different for everyone. I found it easier, less pressured than the first time but that is not everyone's reaction. I think being on this program is a state or mind more than any other factor. Luckily I slipped into it this time, without much forethought. The realization came afterward. That does not, by any means, mean it's a bed of roses. When I stop to reflect I think that slogging along at one or two ounces a day isn't much. But it sure is something. And in fact, I had a larger lose the first week back than any other week on IP.

I definitely don't want either to sound like a Pollyanna OR to minimalize the ongoing effect of the program. Why not join us and see??? ;)

Well, the good news is that I was able to get back into ketosis easily! By Tuesday I was showing traces and today, even after some OP smoothies yesterday because they were all I could handle, I'm still in the low range today. This makes me happy. I know the scale has gone down too, but I'm trying not to worry about it to much. I've got a long ways to go.

The worst part of the oral surgery is trying to eat meat. It's really difficult to chew when you are missing your 8 back bottom teeth. :-( I'm puree-ing my veggies and adding them to the soups which isn't too bad. Right now, though I just want something cold!

Good Sunday morning, my wonderful IP friends!.. I hope everybody is having a SUPER weekend...

Confession time - I fell off the wagon yesterday at a meeting... too many goodies lying around at the break & I was weak... anyway, as of today, I'm in hardcore bootcamp, as described by ShrinkingSusie in the daily thread on September 29, 2010... here's the link to her post, but in case it doesn't work, here's what she said:
Good Morning everyone! I have the IP Clinic Manual at my house from work, and I was browsing through it last night and found the true IP Bootcamp. It has a Q&A section in it so I was reading through and someone had said they have a client who was losing steady for three months and then the fourth month lost only one pound. They suggested that client go into IP Bootcamp, which is replacing your dinner protein with TWO IP packs for ONE week! Thought I would share this because I know some people have talked about having a couple slow weeks. Maybe this can kick-start you guys back up!
I've tried this before & it worked, so I'm hoping a week on bootcamp protocol will bring good results this time too...

hugs

Thanks for posting that. So many people use that term on threads and they all seem to have different meanings. Most people think it is to go to lowest carb veggies and eliminate all restricted items. But often people have stalls because they have cut back below what the protocols outline. In that case less is not more.

Thanks from me, too. I'm kind of desperately waiting for my new supply of whey protein isolate. It should have been here yesterday. When it comes I think I'll try this again. Had a pretty stally week not helped, perhaps, by going out to dinner at a (very good) Ethiopian restaurant. I passed on the ostrich, springbok, and various other dishes in lovely sauces and had steamed catfish on fennel. The best I could do but it was dripping in oil. (Obligatory meal with my daughter-in-law's parents.)

Marion, I hope you're hanging on. Actually, I hope you have a spectacular loss. Something ought to make up for all the nasty stuff. You, too, Pat and Sheshie. Shoot, let's include everyone. Wouldn't that be nice? ;)

Edit: Pat. Down 3. That is spectacular.

N.b. Ethiopian is probably my favorite national food. It was really painful watching people sopping up their sauces with ingera and downing honey wine.

Thanks for the inspiration

I too had the worst time restarting. I did well for 2 months and then shortly after we moved, it was downhill. It started out with tasting the batter, to having a FEW grahmcrackers. It snow balled. I down played it to my coach and then denied it in fear or getting kicked off IP. I had a coach I really loved and respected and was truly accountable to and then she got another job. Honestly between this and the move, I felt saddened.

Today is my day 1 on Phase one. I am taking it meal by meal. I only have less than 20 to go and honestly, if I had not messed up- I would have been there already. I need to finish what I start- not make anymore excuses and just do this! Starting over is so hard but it just needs to get done!

That's a hard set of circumstances. I (sincerely) hope things will be less stressful this time around and that you can just take the program in stride. Wish you the best and strongest desire to get rid of the last 20 [seems-like-a-mountain] pounds. If there is ANYTHING we can do to help, just say it.

Here are some tricks?, not sure that's the right word, I found that helped.
-- I track everything, including magnesium, potassium, and calcium because the latter are quite low in the IP Program. Easy because I use my own spreadsheet which I'll gladly share with anyone, and get my information from the USDA Nutrient Data Laboratory: http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/

-- On the recommendation of a former IPer I take two DIM-plus tablets a day for estrogen metabolism balance. I neither recommend them or not but I did find that I had none of the getting into ketosis symptoms this time that I did the last. I also take a vitamin C supplement.

-- I always drink 100 or slightly more ounces of water a day and try to get 50-55 of them in by noon, spaced over the morning.

-- I walk a minimum of 2 miles a day, usually more like 5, and two or three walks. Briskness depends on how much the puppy-for-life thinks he's a scent dog. To keep myself accountable I added an exercise tracker.

If any of this is helpful, please feel free to use it and bon voyage.

Ok count me in...I need to restart my program alsol..so today is the day...
I have it all set up and I'm hunkering down..
I like several of the ideals..the 2 miles a day exercise..the pedometer..
the swimming...I again got into the routine of helping everyone else and staying so busy I didn't help me..and I know that never works..so I'm kicking
it into go and I want to see what I can get done by Thanksgiving...
I'm excitied...gotta run so I can pick up a few things to keep at work...

How did everyone survive this weekend? Great I hope.

I've never tried the bootcamp but I think I'll give it a try this week. Woke up Friday morning to strep throat so I've been taking antibiotics trying to kick it's butt. The diet was put on the sidelines for the past three days. I hadn't been sick for over three years and wham it got me. I'm feeling some what better today but boy are the mornings bad.

I also journal everything which I think helps keep me on track. The journal is empty for the weekend. Bad me.

I've got continuing ed classes today so I plan on sitting away from everyone else but since I have been on meds since Friday I don't think I can give it to anyone. If I thought I was still contagious I would not attend. Ethics class....their always a hoot. I think some in my profession need to sit on an ethics class everyday!

I'll let you know how the week goes on bootcamp. I so want to kick these last, less than 20 pounds to the curb by Christmas.

Marionm 10-24-2011 10:15 AM

I posted this in the daily thread, but since I'm a restarter, I figured I'd post here as well... my first weigh in was this morning and I lost 9 pounds! :D I don't know that I can say the oral surgery helped because of all of the pain meds I was taking and that it was hard to even consume the food I needed so it really could have worked against me...did I mention my period started too? Ugg! It's been quite a week, but 9 pounds helps. Now I need to get through to my dentist for some adjustments.

HOLY GEE-E-E-E! Well you are just determined to start over with a big splash, aren't you? Kidding aside, whatever the cause, you sure deserve it. :carrot:

Hi IowaM, strept is nothing to play around with. I SURE hope you're feeling better. If it helps, I read a few days ago that you can't overdose on vitamin C.

And JudoGirl It's so nice to have you. Yours has been such a satisfactory success. I hope, I'm sure, that the last 10 are, well, the last 10.

I assume that you still have your IP product before you go to bed? Trying to kick these last 10 pounds and would love to try to get more than a pound a week.
thanks for the help
