Weighing meat

I prefer a scale because it seems like I get more. But do we weigh from cooked or raw?

rainbowmom 08-18-2011 07:33 PM

My understanding is raw.

Uh oh, I've always measured from cooked. Is that wrong?

Lalison 08-18-2011 07:53 PM

I have always been told to measure from cooked for meat and raw for veggies!

My coach said to weigh it raw before being cooked.

I'm not sure about IP in specific, but I actually saw on a package of chicken breasts the other day the following: serving size 4 oz raw, 3 oz cooked. I always thought a standard serving of chicken was 4 oz cooked. From now on I always measure my meats raw since I'm calorie counting and don't wanna make a big mistake going over!

I was told to weight them raw. I also know that the right serving size is about the size of a deck of cards for when I don't have scale to use.

My coach told me to measure meat after cooking and to measure veggies raw.

This was the first question I asked my coach when I started as all diets do it differently. She said raw.
