Bread

Hello. I found this "bread" recipe on youtube. I plan on making it when I'm on maintenance and have a craving for bread.

Does anyone know where I can buy quickcarb in Canada?

how many carbs are in it? I guess I missed that part.

I found a bread from a local deli that has less than 2 carbs for 2 slices and has 14g of protein. It actually tasted pretty good while on maintenance. Nice and soft with a normal flavor.

Hi Showgirlaz. I haven't been able to find a store bought bread that low in carb. I'll keep looking.

How can I figure out how many carbs is in the bread recipe I posted?

1/3 cup ground flax seeds
1/3 cup carbquick
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 Tbsp oil
1 Tbsp cream

You can use a nutrition database, figure out the ingredients individually to create a total for the recipe then divide the totals by the possible appropriate sized servings to get the individual per serving counts.

There are a few company's that make 1 and 2 carb per slice breads. I have tried a few but, the one made by my local bakery seems the best. On a national scale some people can find and use Julian low carb bread. It is considered to be one of the best low carb breads around and they have 2 or 3 varieties. I know it is available in the USA, not really sure if it is available to Canada.

As an FYI, another low carb bread option is to make flax foccacia bread. I am sure the recipe is in the recipes 2 thread. If you don't see it google search it. Flax is a great way to get useable fiber and by the time you take the fiber count out, a slice of the bread is about 1 carb.

There is a bakery here in the PNW... I believe. Its called Jullians Bakery, and they offer a "smart carb" bread, 3 different kinds... I know that they have a facebook page, so I am sure that they have a website, I just don't know what it is.
