for overweight teenagers looking for support

Hi i just started the diet yesterday, i started at 181.6lbs i a now at 180.3 I am 16 years old and decided I needed a change. My mom also started the main reason i started was to give my mom support through this, and now we are losing weight together. I know how it feels to be an overweight teenager in the world. This is a thread for support for overweight teenagers. So we can talk together and help each other.

I'm not a teenager, but I've been there! I wish you all much luck. And supporting eachother is great!

Aw I feel bad that there don't seem to be a lot of teenagers on here. I am only 22 though... I will be a buddy if you want support. :)

My IP center said that you had to be 18 to be on the program. I wanted to have my overweight son try this diet and he is 14 and they said that it's too restrictive for teens and they wouldn't do it. It kinda surprised me because their brochure said it's also for adolecense.

Anyone else experience this at their IP center?

It is great that you decided to make a change in your life at 16. I have been a chunky girl from way back when. Its great to have both you and your mom on it together. My mom is also doing this with me but she is using the alternatives. Just because you are a teenager and we are older doesn't mean that we have not gone through the same thing you have at one point or another. There is a lot of support on this site for all ages. Good Luck to you and your mom, We will keep checking on the both of you :)

First of all I really want to thank everyone for there support on here. I weighed today and im at 180lbs even. IP was a little worried about me doing this diet at 16 but my mom talked to my doctor and IP and me and we all decided that it would be fine for me to do it but they were still a little apprehensive about me doing it at 16. Thank you all for your support and good job and good luck to everyone, and ill enjoy reading more replys to my thread.:)

I think you are awesome Mistgirl! You are doing this right, under a Dr's supervision, and I think it's great that you and your Mom are doing this together.

Good luck to you and your mom!! One day at a time.

I just want to say good luck. I wish I had found this diet at a young age.

Hey mistgirl.

Welcome and congratulations on making the best decision you could for yourself and your health.

This diet is hard but totally worth it. Even better than the diet is the support that you will get around here.

You can do it if you keep yourself focused.

Good luck girl! I was around 200 in high school, but that was 10 years ago. It sucked being the fat kid in High School, but I think everything has lead to forming the me I am today.

My 14yo daughter is going to start this program in October if she isn't loosing on her own. It is just too cost prohibitive for both of us to be on it now.

My coach is awesome and told me she couldn't recommend anything to me about what daughter should use, but that if her child had the same issue, she would tell her to drink the EAS Carb shakes. So we are switching out her breakfast for a shake, and her lunch for shake + salad/veggies, and we're all eating better because we are not hitting the drive-thru like before. We're trying this first as she only has about 15-20lbs to loose.

If she isn't on track by Oct. 1, or needs the extra help of the coach (like Mom!) then we will start then. Coach said she just needs a note from her Dr. ok'ing it.
