Vegetables/Fiber/Cooking methods
I've been having my 4 cups of veggies a day, because I understand that's important for the program. I've been reading a lot about which have the higher amount of carbs and fiber, but mostly I'm starting to feel overwhelmed with so much info.
Anyway I'm having problems with "C" and also my loss was a bit on the low side this week. I'm trying to tweak a few things here and there, and although I know we are all different, I'd be interested in seeing what combination of veggies you guys use, and if you have noticed that your loss slows down or speeds up when you consume certain vegetables. Here's what I've done for the past two weeks: For lunch: I use frozen asparagus, microwaved, and spinach boiled OR frozen asparagus, microwaved and roasted zucchini Dinner: Roasted celery and fresh cucumbers OR roasted pasilla peppers, green onions and celery (in addition to lettuce) I haven't done broccoli after the second week because I found out they are a little higher in carbs, and I thought celery would help with C, but that didn't turn out to be true for me. So, what do you guys do as far as vegetables? |
I'm also curious to which veggies are the best/ low carb to eat.. And if it really matters...

i know zucchini is..even though broccoli is higher in carbs..it helps you poop more..its the gassy veggie...you would think celery would help with all that fibre...but no hey?? hmm.. i eat lots of mushrooms.. but ive been told that lettuce is what helps you go..all the roughage...spinach should help if eaten raw i should think?..brussel sprouts?

I am at the end of my first week and am having a similar difficulty . . . things are just moving toooo slooooooowly.
Anyway, I have roughly 2 hearts of romaine stir fries each day. In addition, I have a combo of the following veggies - sometimes raw, sometimes sauteed: broccoli, asparagus, celery, cucumbers, kohlrabi, zucchini. None of these has cured my problem. I have heard that sauteed spinach can do the trick. Problem I have is that 2 cups of raw spinach sautees down into a teeny tiny portion that won't satisfy me! Are you ensuring you get your olive oil daily too? That can help, increasing water and some movement (a walk?). |
I thought that for spinach the 2 cups were once it's cooked??? I read that somewhere around the forum. I'll definitively have to clarify that with my coach next week.
I do have the olive oil and plenty of water. I just bought Natural Calm.. I'm hoping that works, becuase the liquid magnesium citrate did nothing for me. Porthardygurl, you're right about the broccoli.. I think that's the one that seems to help the most to keep things moving, so I think that I'll have to incorporate it into my veggies at least a couple of days a week. |
