Default 3 weeks into Ideal Protein, working night shift making me hit a wall..HELP

Hello all,
I am at the end of my 3rd week on IP and things were going well
Until my shifts at work have been changing btwn days and nights
On thursday i was down 17 lbs and as of today ( sunday) i am only
Down 13 lbs. I have gained 4 lbs and going on my third night shift
In a row. Does anyone have any tips for those of us working in the
Hospital with crazy hours?? I am feeling
A little discouraged because i am following the diet as i should.
Also, if anyone has some good recipes or tips please share, i am
Becoming slighty bored with the same old routine.
Thanks so much!!

You have a 24 hour period...you have to fit it in just like a regular day...
before you go have breakfast... while at work lunch...and snack..and when you get off dinner...just keep the same program with in 24 hours..and you will do great...go get em....

Another thing I've notice (I do agree with what was written by judogirl) is that the rest cycle when shifting can cause a temporary weight fluctuation. As your body becomes accustomed (yes it will) to such a crazy schedule shift the gains and losses will begin to settle down. Water weight due to lack of good rest is a reality that does not cling indefinitely. Smile. Just hang in there and try hard not to let the fluctuations get your down. I love that you quickly turned here for help. That's what makes this site so important to our success. Smile.

I work nights and rotating shifts too. My coach said on my first day of work, when I am up for about 24 hours to eat a lot of lettuce for my extra meals. I am to keep to my three ID packets that day. Then when my schedule is straight the rest of my work week to eat normal with the 3 packets of ID food.

Morning: Do 1/2 packet w/ egg whites

Lunch: Do 1/2 packet w/salad(2 cups) and unlmitted lettuce..add in 1/2 serving of protein aka: 3.5 ounces of meat..

Dinner: 1/2 packet w/salad(2 cups) and unlimmited lettuce..add in 1/2 serving of protein aka: 3.5 ounces of meat..

Night time work snack: 1/2 packet w/ 2 egg whites

Night time work 1hour break: 1 packet...

This should get you through to the morning..and then in the morning..start over again..having 1 packet..like you normally would for a typical day time schedule...Keep some dill pickles handy though just in case the first time is hard and drink extra water..

Make sure you drink a lot of water. When I'm working I often forget the water and then I go home and strait to bed so make sure you drink during your entire shift.

I work night shift--have been in IP since Feb 1st and have gone from 196 to 132. The first night back to work for the week I have breakfast when I wake up, might eat lunch if I did not sleep in too late, then supper. Around 2AM I eat my lunch item (usually soup with my veggies in it) and lots of salad, then have snack when I get home and before going to bed. Then depending on what time I wake up, I either do a breakfast item or if close to supper time (for hubby) I'll eat supper, then repeat the same eating pattern. Sometimes I'll do a chocolate drink around 5am since that's around the time I get super busy to get me through. When I get off on my last night of the week, I do the snack, have breakfast when I get up, supper and do snack when I go to bed. My days off I eat at normal times. DON'T eat a restricted item during the night. The latest I've eaten a restricted item is 2300.
Seems like on the weeks I don't sleep good, I did not lose as much weight. I would get discouraged because it's so difficult to get enough sleep, drink your water and still have weight loss.
Hope this helps

Rest assured that you cannot gain 4 lbs of fat in 4 days. It is water weight and totally normal to fluctuate. I work nights at times too and the best thing you can do is make sure you get in your sleep (the next day).
