This may raise a few eye brows....plastic surgery?????

Just wondering if anyone has thought of it? I had a tummy tuck about 5 years ago when I went from 280 to about 215 or so and had kept it off for 5 years. But then the last three years my weight crept back up to 246.....

But my tummy tuck looks awesome no harm done.

But my upper inner thighs are so saggy and so are the back of my arms and the sides of my breast. After 26 weeks of intense personal training I have some serious muscle tone, but the saggyness hinders how good it is.

Not sure if the scars are worth the trade-off?

Going for a consult in 2 weeks...any thoughts or ideas

I have been thinking about getting the girls done for years. I qualify for a medically necessary reduction. I would love to do my tummy too! Carrying 2-10 lb kids was not good on me even before the weight gain. I wish there was a way other than surgery.

Are you considering skin removal/lift or other procedures too?

A friend told me about the same thing happening to a co-worker of hers. You are born with x number of fat cells, the number of fat cells your body has never changes, your cells only enlarge or retract with weight gain/loss. So when you had the tummy tuck you removed fat cells from your belly and when you gained weight the weight distributed disproportionately to the places where you had more fat cells your thighs and arms.

Not true...fat cells do multiply...unfortunately!
And yes, the only way to get rid of them, is for them to be cut or sucked out. We can only physically shrink them, but they are always there..in abundance unfortunately.

I will more then likely require a body lift at the end of my journey. Including putting the girls back in their places, and same size preferably.

It is true that liposuction can result in strange results if you regain weight. Look into the "cold laser" if you want to medically remove fat. It apparently pierces the fat cells so that the fat drains out. It's apparently superior to liposuction in that it doesn't remove the fat cell completely.

I think that's for men.

Certainly surgery is a personal decision everyone needs to make for themselves. A friend of mine had her girls reduced and it went so well and she is so happy with her decision. The only thing is make sure you find a very good surgeon as I have seen botched jobs as well.

I am not sure if I am being too critical or if I would like the results. Any know anyone's results of inner thigh lift or arm lift?

Pxlkitty4 06-08-2011 09:03 AM

I know someone who has done the cold laser thingee... She has lost about 20 pounds and swears that her inner thighs and abdomen look great. I noticed a significant different in her weight, but didn't personally see her problem areas. She is over 50 years old and hadn't had any success with other diets... Imagine her surprise when I said how much I had lost on a diet. Ha!

Here is a link of a site I found with a video, in case you want to learn more...

If this is removed, google "zerona body sculpting". This site is in North Carolina, but I liked their video and their website is quite informative.

I am seriously thinking about it too!! My girls, tummy and inner thighs!! My arms are sagging too so I may just throw that in there too!! IF I don't chicken out...let us know how your consultation goes!!

Funny you should mention this, I have been noticing lots of saggy arm stuff and some saggy stomach stuff. So I googled saggy skin and a few websites basically said to get rid of the saggy skin is to get rid of the fat cells by diet and exercise... so I went hmmm really? I was talking to a friend and she said that Oprah had her arms done so she could wear short sleeves now she still doesn't wear short sleeves as she has a scar from under her arm all the way to the elbow...she basically said what a waste that was ... me I am a real chicken, and don't like going under the knife for anything. but I hope there is a better way that I can fix my problem. A while back on here Some one from Manitoba was talking about getting a tummy tuck etc, and that if you have lost 100lbs or more the government will pay for it if you have kept it off for 1 year. I find that interesting as apparently it is 15000 and I can't afford that. Have a good night.

Hey Darbs!

I've thought about it. Pretty much for the same reasons you mentioned. ;-)
What's the point of losing all this weight if you're not happy with how you look at the end of it?

The thing is, it's elective surgery. Any surgery has risks, and it's a medically unnecessary surgery you're chosing to subject yourself to.

General anestesia aside, liposuction is EXTREMELY dangerous. The fatality rate is much higher than anyone will advertise when you're making the decisions. I know people who have almost died from lipo.

Tummy tucks and boob lifts are a whole different story.

Just saying, do your homework on the risks before you sign any wavers.

There's a whole thread about post-weight-loss body image elsewhere on this site, and they sometimes have threads about surgery there:

I do not want lipo....not sure where I would need it....not really any fat spots.

I want my inner thigh lifted....yucky loose skin and also I had a breast reduction 20 years ago and my scar tore because I went to work a few days after the surgery and tore it. I want to fix the scar and tighten the skin on the sides of my breasts.

I have read a TON!

I have my consult on the 23rd so I will let you know what he says and what I decide.

Thanks for all the input everyone

I am having a tummy tuck done in September.... I am very anxious and excited at the same time. I have loose skin on my arms and thighs... I was going to get my arms done but at my consult with a few surgeons they said there would be a long scar, so decided against that... as for thighs..well it is a difficult recovery from what I am aware of but would love to do that.... I have had 2 children and have this pouch that has gotta go despite all my efforts my family doctor said surgery was the only way to get rid of that part... arms and thighs well those maybe can be toned with weightlifting and stuff....
