Jello question
Hi everyone,
I'm finally back on here after my trip to Haiti and will go into that more in the daily thread.....but I have a question about the jello. I don't think this has ever been covered as I tried to do a search for it but if it has, please direct me to where I can find the answer. A friend of mine from work started IP last month and is doing great on it. Like so many of us, she's become a creature of habit with what she likes and suddenly our office can't get any RTE puddings. She was stuck at what to get, to get her through the week and was going to choose the jello for both breakfast and snack but our coach told her you're not supposed to eat it more than a few times a week. Has anyone else heard this? I don't remember hearing it and don't think I read it in any of our handouts...so hoped someone on here could help. The only reason I can think of for this would be it's got the cellulose in it, could that be right? Look forward to hearing back from some of you and hope I can help her find an answer. Mary |

I have heard that too - I believe it is because the jello doesn't have all the amino acids that the other packets do, so it is not supposed to be considered a "stand-alone" packet, but rather as a supplemental packet.

Gelatin is technically protein, but it's an incomplete and very inferior source of protein. You would not want most or much of your protein coming from gelatin.
I was actually surprised to see gelatins among the IP and similar programs' packets. It makes sense though now, if they're not meant to be used frequently. |
