100 pounds to lose..how long do you think?

I have 100 pounds to losee..ive been obese my whole life..I was just wondering..how long do you think it will take for me to lose at least 80 of those pounds?? am i looking at a full year? or 6 months??? Im just looking for an averagish? Cuz on south beach i only averaged a pound or two loss.which means it would have taken a whole year to lose at least 90.

If you follow the plan completely I think you could lose 80 in 6 months for sure. There have been some that have lost 100 or more in that amount of time. Good Luck!

It could take as little as 6 months or as long as a year. Different bodies react differently.

But the real question is so what if it took two years?????

You have to change the way you eat FOREVER! Yup, forever!

You will have to learn control and going without instant gratification on a daily basis.

Even in maintenance you need to be very good 5 days a week.

I have spent the last 8.5 months on this diet focusing on the forever part....not sure how it will work out as I got alot of forever ahead of me, but I am trying so hard not to think about how long I have been on the diet or how it has slowed down or anything like that, but that I am so much better off than I was.

You will do wonderful, focus, committ, and watch the change.

But honestly within 2 months you will weight 35 to 40 pounds less....it is awesome!

I saw you are 6' if you are a guy you will lose the entire 100 pounds in about 4 months!

I was almost your weight when I started. I started in October and have lost 72.5 as of last Wednesday (though I will admit I've cheated a bit and should have lost quite a bit more). Good luck!

I promised myself when I started I'd stick to it and give it a good shot, I'm expecting that it will take me 8-9 months...and if it's not off then it won't be much longer after that. I'm just working week to week, sometimes minute to minute. Right now I'm very focused...it's only been 6 weeks. :)

I've lost 45 in 3 months so if I keep it up at this pace then it will take me 5.5 months. Seems like lots of people lose faster then that even. I've been pretty good for the most part and nothing major as far as cheating goes, nibbles of things here and there, an extra part of a restricted when I'm having a hard day...that sort of thing. :)

I'm a calorie counter and older than you. Took me 72 weeks.

Good morning, I am losing 100 lbs and am proud to say just over half 54.5 lbs in 4 months, I will go as long as it takes.

I lost 101 lbs in 27 weeks and still have at least 50 lbs to go. My goal is to be through all phases and into maintenance by the the time I hit one year on the protocol. If it happens sooner than that I will be ecstatic but I am taking it one meal at a time.

Thats AWESOME!!! Any tips on how you are doing so well? I'm only on Day 10. I haven't determined my goal weight yet. Started at 293......I would LOVE to lose 100 + pounds but I'm going to see how the first few weeks go before setting a goal...I'd hate to set one too high.

I hope to be on Phase 1 for 6 months....possibly more if I'm still comfortable on it then. Or perhaps I'll go off it for a few months and restart. I'm only 26 so its a big life adjustment for me, especialyl int his time of my life when I'm dating and starting a new job, etc. I don't know if I could go without a drink for 8+months! haha

Thank you for all the kind words. I was ready for a change when I found out about the IP protocol. I am 59 years old and have been overweight since high school. I have also spent many thousands of dollars over the last 30 years trying to find that magic pill, or diet, or machine that would make me skinny overnight. When I saw the advertisement that asked me if I "wanted to lose 30 lbs in 10 weeks" with no exercise I immediately said "YES". And the rest as they say is history.

I would not have been as successful as I have been without the daily encouragement that I have found from this site. The veteran IPers that have been willing to offer their expertise on a daily basis are the true heroes.

Here's to a 100% IP protocol week.
