2) There is no problem with the IP diet. It is a decent diet plan that works. What I don't like about it is that the education it gives it's dieters is faulty and the supplements are expensive. For example Dr Tran says we need to give the pancreas a rest and implies that insulin is not going to be released while you're in the induction phase. While insulin is higher with carbs and protein ingested insulin is still released when only protein is ingested. For example - the idea of there being an "ideal" protein powder is silly. |
My understanding of this site is for motivation and encouragement...no matter what your desired road to your goal. JohnP I do understand your desire to educate people on the dynamics of weight loss and help them make better decisions but the reality of it all is adults will do what they want to do. The OP is on the IP Protocol and asking people that are on the IP Protocol. So clearly the decision has been made and all of them take THEIR OWN money and make the decisions they want to make.
I've seen your post on this forum before and they have been quite offensive to the people in this forum. Once you have made your statements and see that they are not wanted then leave the people alone. Usually the same people are on the thread and once you respond, it turns combative. Clearly they don't want what you are offering and that's their decision. But telling them they have been drinking the IP Koolaid is very unkind. Just my opinion. |
Jigglefree you make some excellent points. Often for me I interally debate whether someone would be better off with the truth or just left alone in their own version of reality because they're getting results and the truth might take them off track. You have no idea how many posts I don't make because of this.

Thanks for the reply JohnP. I will look into that diet as I'm always interested in reading/studying other diet strategies to see what differences/discrepencies there are. I've been on the Ideal Protein program for a couple of months and it works great, but I've decided to try and tackle it on my own to save some money.

Rondre - there are quite a few people that do the IP diet on their own and buy alternative products. Since you're already on the program that could possibly be the least expensive way to go and clearly you're having awesome results.
|
I've purchased alternative protein already - need to find alternative supplements. I guess the thing I was looking for is how psmf's can actually vary - what would make IP different than other's you'd recommend such as rapid fat loss. Looks like it's a book you have to purchase to get the whole info from - is that the right one based on what you mentioned - by Lyle McDonald?
|
Yes - you could also go to his site and read about it on his forums. There is lot of information there. There are also logs you can look at before you decided if you want to spend $40 on the book.

JohnP, it looks like you parachuted in behind enemy lines... ;)

Don't let a slip up get you down. I had one too - just remember the success and get back on the plan. Drink lots of water, get some veggies in for fiber. We aren't perfect...we are simply on a journey...as step at a time.

I have tried this protocol alone, but the ip "foods" are more interesting... Is $80 a week really that expensive? Mcdonalds PDF is excellent. I agree with your points. For me, the 22 pound loss has been amazing. Body fat down to 13%. I have fully embraced the low carb life! |
