Please don't feel like a doof -- keep asking these kinds of questions. For those of us who are foodies and who love to cook - I think I can speak for the group when I say nothing excites us more then to teach those who are not something new and to help them find an appreciation and love for genuine, wholesome, nurturing, truly good food.

I've been told (at least twice now) by people in real life (mostly colleagues) that my weight goal may be "too agressive".
What do you guys think?
I am 5'5" (and a half) and of medium bone structure.
I was 135 lbs on my wedding day BUT that was 8 years ago and before kids. I am now age 40 and have 2 kids.
I just found that in recent pictures of me, I still look "chubby" and I would like to look "normal" again. I picked a weigth goal where I remember being most happy.
My original goal was 144 lbs. Does that seem more reasonable?

About tough love vs.... well, not tough love: I notice for myself (not that I'm asking anyone to remember ), that even though I need the positive, caring support, I also need the kick in the butt sometimes, even if I don't realize it and feel offended at first. I appreciate either type of support from this site.

The leafy part. The stem is just too hard and crunchy for me. Sometimes I eat the stem down to where there's no more leaf, and other times I just tear the leafy part off the entire stem.
Kale is good raw in salads, makes a great replacement for lettuce when making lettuce wraps, tastes good sauteed, and baked with a little salt, garlic, and oregano.

I was having the same problem with the cappuccino!!! But I found that if I mix it with 100mL of cold water, shake well, then add 6 oz prepared hot coffee in it and shake it again, it's smooth as anything, and tastes GREAT. I would imagine the same would go for adding hot water instead of coffee.

I too tried the turnip fries and liked them - however - I did find them to be a little mushy. Were yours that way too - if not - how did you prepare them?

I miss that. I have found that unsweetened almond milk has no sugar, fat or carbs and it is totally awesome as a shake with the chocolate protein powder, I don't think I could live without it now even if I wasn't on this diet. I have never ok'd this little find with anyone, it may not be allowed, but once a day when I am most hungry it helps so much. I mix it with water so 4 oz almond milk and 4 oz water and ice... so good and it fills you up!

I'm a big cheese/dairy fan as well and also slipped in some almond milk earlier on and on my 2nd time doing the diet - my WL has dropped significantly. Unfortunately I haven't found a great substitute yet for milk but the new vanilla RTD is good for that kind of consistancy but with a vanilla flavoring if you want to try that.

Definitely don't feel like a doof - if anything you're probably asking things other people aren't chiming in about or haven't thought to ask of yet.

I would say that whatever you're happy with yourself at is where you should go. People are different and you need to do what works for you. Some people are stuck on numbers - others on visuals etc. I would say to do what you feel like doing so long as your body fat % and blood work are in healthy ranges.
Just wanted to say hi to everyone - been busy this week so haven't posted much. My 2 cents on the day - tried the Zevia soda flavor "Dr. Zevia" obviously a dr. pepper knock off and I must say it's better than regular dr. pepper. Won't be drinking it much since i'm trying to not drink any type of soda - but nice to know there is a stevia based one that I like (their cola is disgusting and lemon lime is barely ok).
If anyone ever finds a sucralose or stevia based mountain dew - don't let me know cuz i might never drink water again (lol - j/k).

I also think it is what you feel is right for you... my goal is 140 as well and people are shocked at that, they think that is too small... I am taking the attitude when I get closer I will see, if I am stuck at a certain weight that might presuade me to change. but I think it really is a personal thing... I am getting you shouldn't have much left to lose and when I say 50 lbs more people are disagreeing, but like I said it will be a wait and see for me. I can't remember ever weighing 140 but do remember 150 and thought I was still fat then. sooo. Do what you have to to make yourself happy.

I find the cappuccino tastes like soap when I warm it up... I have to have it as an iced cap...

Whenever I want to crisp things up, I cook them "up" on a cookie cooling rack on top of a cookie sheet. This gets the air circulating. Also, put the pan in the oven before you turn it on. When you preheat the pan and then add the food when the pan is really hot, you get a nicer crust on things and they will tend to be crispier. Also, a higher temp will help get things crisper -- try 400 if you have been doing 350, 425 if you want to live dangerously.

Thank you for starting the first post of the day!! It really is easy, isn't it!
For those who aren't sure how, it is pretty simple:
-open a new thread and title it for the new date/day as IP daily chat - (day of week and date)
- Then open a new window or tab with the prior days daily chat thread. Once it is open you just quote, copy, paste the previous days first post into a new thread.
-Next go to the bottom of the copied post and create a link back to the prior days chat (first page, please). To do that you look for text (code) that looks like this
[URL="http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/ideal-protein-diet/232287-ip-daily-chat-monday-2-may-2011-a-10.html"]IP Daily Chat - Monday, 2 May 2011
Go to the other window, with the prior days post, be on the first page, and then copy the http://www. address. That address is then pasted into the appropriate space at the bottom of the new first post for the daily chat. Drop the copied text into the space behind the[URL=" where the http:// text already is. (Leave the ending [/URL because it tells the system to display as a link not as text.)
There you go! Submit and you have the new daily chat started.
Then reopen the new daily chat, copy the address and put it as the last post for the prior days chat so people can know where to go to keep up with us.
Thank you for all who try to do this! It really isn't as hard as it sounds and is nice to have it not be the responsibility of one person. If it isn't perfect. Not a problem. At least people will know where we are!

i feel outstanding. i have gone down 4 top sizes from a 5x to a 1x. i have gone down 3 pant sizes from a 5x to a 2x. but i feel great/excellent/outstanding. one of the teachers who works with me has been doing weightwatchers for 1 and 1/2 years and was just as big as me. but she has only lost 60 some lbs. so i gave her some of my old cloths so she could try on. i have never been able to give someone my old cloths to wear. its a great feeling.
thanks for all your positive comments. i love each and every one of you and your support.
