IP-Birth Control

  • Can someone explain the increased fertility thing? I do not want children at this time and now am really afraid with this diet. We use protection (not oral contraceptives) should I be going back on oral contraceptives? I am terrified now!
  • Its not an increase in fertility, it has an effect on oral contraceptives because it messes with our hormones. Apparently women store their hormones in the fatty areas of our body and with the sudden shock to the fat it causes the hormones to start moving all over and with that causes the impact on BC. But since you are using other methods you should be fine. Im not sure how it would effect IUD's and such though. So possibly back up with condoms
  • Thanks for the response
  • Yeah, my coach told me too that this diet is known to get ladies pregnant. Just one of the many unfortunate and rediculous things my clinic has told me. If anything, with the amount of soy we are consuming and the phytoestrogens from the soy, it may unfortunately be causing estrogen dominance in our body and may contribute to INfertility. I think the only way IP may enhance fertility is with the use of a progesterone BC method. ie, if you were using a Depo shot. With the hormone shift, it may cause Progesterone BC methods not as effective.
  • OMG! I better not get preggo on this diet!!! not after all this work
  • I think it is mostly seen with women who were having hormone related issues to begin with or with those who aren't aware that the hormones they are releasing have changed their cycles in some way thus, altering their point of ovulation or creating an imbalance in the level of synthetic BC hormones needed to keep from getting pregnant.

Of the 5 people who have reported becoming pregnant (on this forum) while on the diet, all of them had experienced infertility issues in the past and were DELIGHTED to suddenly get pregnant. 3 of them had prior histories of PCOS.
