My coach let me pick what I wanted to weigh. I am the same height as you and picked 160. Now that I am there, I am very happy with that choice. Don't go by some chart your Dr. has that doesn't take into account your own personal body. I am 160 and a size 10 and sometimes an 8. That is maintainable for me!

Ok, so WI #4---down 26 pounds total. I'm staying OP so far. Easter weekend is next weekend---my MIL always has us to some fancy buffet. We go to her house from Saturday through Sunday night. I have NO IDEA how I am going to be on a diet in her house. I do fine in my house, but something about being at her place SCREAMS.... EAT!!!! She is an AWESOME cook too----none of that lowfat, no carb stuff----REAL food. And beer. LOADS of it. I halfway considered feigning illness and staying home, but I really miss her and my sis-in-law, neither of whom I have seen since Christmas. HELP. I can handle being hungry all day in my own house/place of work-----but really question how I will handle it in HER house?????

Find whatever you can to keep you motivated - tie a rope to a scale and wear it as a necklace (not really but funny mental image). You're the only one in control of your destiny - if you cheat how much will you be kicking yourself for it? I say load up on your IP and WF product selection to try and counter anything that is there. If you feel the urge to eat - do something else. maybe go through the recipe boards here for some alternative ideas to what she may cook but you're gonna need to find away around situations like these because they will pop up the rest of your life - sometimes unplanned too.

I don't know if it will work for you - but i can't eat after brushing my teeth - maybe give that a go - the minty freshness and beer just doesn't go together for me lol.

For me, beer goes with EVERYTHING. I haven't had a drink in a month and I was a big beer drinker esp. on the weekends. But I think the visualization idea could be helpful.

As to "these situations" popping into my life. I have NO intention of being on IP forever. This is a tool to get a BUNCH of weight off- FAST, and then I will be low-carbing (hello butter, cream, and cheese!) to maintain. Low carbing at her house is not really too bad, because at least I can eat and not be hungry----the beer is always an issue, though LOL.

I have been on wayyyyyyy too many diets to think that "this time is forever!"---yeah. For me, at this point, that is kind of like believing in the Easter Bunny or believing there is a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow. I am NOT saying that this is the case for everyone----certainly others can feel free to hold out the hope that "this really is IT for me". But after 20 years of up and down the scale (and up and down and up and down and up and down), I know that for me, this is temporary. I will LOVE the loss of every pound and celebrate with everyone as they lose as well, but I have no illusions that I will be able to keep it off "forever". I would settle for keeping it off for a few years. If I get more than that, GREAT---but if I don't, well it's just business as usual.

So odd question, I'm almost embarassed to ask... Can cough drops be enough to kick me out of ketosis? I had halls menthol ones and just grabbed them for my sore throat not thinking.

I found this on Wikipedia:

* Mentho-Lyptus:

Active Ingredients: Menthol 6.5 mg
Inactive Ingredients: Flavorings, Glucose Syrup, Sucrose

So I've definitely consumed some sugar. Damn it! :*(

What do the nutrition facts say? main things to look at are the carb and sugar count.

You might be ok since they're small. Looks like they have sugar free versions as well though. There is sugar in the occasional bars so it's not "completely" off limits - but you'll wanna check the amount you consumed and maybe skip the occasional today if it has some in it.

I have that a lot too. Especially in the morning. I am gulping water like it's about to go out of fashion! Don't know if that ir ketosis, but something good is happening. Keep on chugging that water!

Also, I tweaked my supplements. I wasn't getting nearly enough potassium. Are you on the Natura? The hubs went by and got me their pot-cal and mag-cal today. I don't know why I wasn't on them before. It's no wonder I felt like poo! I hope these do well. I was worried about the potassium being too high until I found out how much is in a baked potato: nearly 900 mg!

I hope you are having successes!

Default Dinner

My supper was AWESOME tonight. I marinated turkey legs in WF zesty italian and Louisiana Hot Sauce. Then I cooked them on the BBQ. It was so good. I also steamed some asparagus (my go to veggie) and had a salad w/mixed greens, colored peppers, and raw onions. EVOO and cider vinegar and a touch of dijon. It was so good I could have it all over again, but I'm too full.

Question Hard time getting restarted

I've been home from Florida for a week but I've been so tired all week, it's just kept me from being able to focus on getting fully back on track. Going to bed early doesn't help me with taking my vitamins at the proper times, I'm so busy at work that I forget to take my morning vitamins and just on and on. And, I've missed more foods we can't have this time around than when I first started. The being so tired comes a lot from being diagnosed with reactivated Epstein Barr virus and also the emotional drain from spending the week with my dad and getting the news about his terminal cancer.

I'm just now feeling like I might be getting back into ketosis and I totally restarted things last Sun. At least I have a week without a weigh-in this week as my chiropractor's office is closed this week, which means my coach is off. I'm just hoping and praying that I'll see a decent loss when I go in next Mon.

I really love reading the posts on here, everyone is so supportive of each other and even though I've barely had time to post since getting back, I still try to keep up with the posts. Great news for so many this week and I add my encouragement to the ones who deal with the slow losing. I can also attest that this diet works.....this is the first diet that's worked for me in 10 years!

Keep up the good work everyone!

Hugs,

Mary

I just need 1.4 lbs to get to goal weight for me.

Congrats to everybody with there weight loss success and with all the NSV lately I haven't been able to post as much as I like but have been reading all the posts.

NSV - I'm in an XL at Old Navy for their tops instead of an XXL!!
So happy for you! You are kicking some butt my friend, keep up the great job you're doing!

Hey everyone, just a quick check in for me. I'm not feeling so hot today and neither is my little man, I have a feeling we're in for a bout of colds/flu in this house

NSV today though, I was trying on a pair of sandals for our upcoming trip to
Florida and I suddenly noticed I have ankles again! I mean, I obviously always had ankles but after the birth of my son, my ankles were just never the same...they always appeared swollen. Now, all that water retention is gone, my husband even noticed. Was a good feeling

I have WI #8 Friday and I'm sure hoping the scale is nicer to me than it was last week...not sure I could take 2 weeks in a row with such a small loss
