You lost all that weight since September? Holy cow. That's amazing. It's taken me much longer. :-)

This past weekend was my second planned cheat. The first one was back in February at my doc's advice to help get me through a plateau. (Which worked, for a while.) It was very difficult at first to have carbs, to remember how to eat normally, but I got over it pretty fast. This one was part for the plateau, part because I knew I would have very little control over my food that weekend, and part because I was losing my little mind on this diet and needed a break.

I wonder if I'd have done better to cheat more, and keep my metabolism up. *shrug* That's the most annoying part - it's impossible to tell what's going on, when it's working or not working, WHY you're losing or not losing.

I'm a little worried about whether or not it's healthy to be in ketosis this long, but, my docs are telling me it's fine, so I guess I'm ok.

I haven't always been strictly 100% on program - for the first six months or so, I wasn't measuring my oil when I cooked my veggies, I would have the restricted veggies more like once a day than twice a week, but as I was still losing 2-3 pounds a week, I figured that was enough. When it slowed down, I got more strict, which worked up to a point.

I'm honestly not sure what will happen with taking a cheat a few days after starting phase 2, and then going back into phase 2, but I'll keep you posted.

This place is a lifeline. I wish I had found it sooner. All my friends must be sick of hearing me talk about this diet by now, but it's the most important thing in my life right now, and it's pretty much all I want to talk about. SO happy to find other people going through the same things.

You have still done amazing. Even when I get to 156...I may try to go to 146. I actually am very happy with my size now, but I hate that scale. I just shopped at 5-6 different stores and wore a size 8 in all of them...but I really want to see 156 so I will try hard to be good for another 5-6 weeks. Scale hasn't moved in 11 days....I think my body might be freaking out from the planned cheats and strict phase I. Time to settle for awhile.

hugs

My treat is literally once every other week or so and only if I am out and don't have food with me....I get the dressing on the side...dip the fork in it and then grab some salad.

Darbs,

I love reading your posts and your attitude towards this process. Last night I had a planned cheat, not horrible but still a serving of German potatoe salad and a slice of better then sex cake. Mmmmmmmm! It was so good!! Kind of ironic but yesterday morning I actually met my phase 2 weight, but now I have to do phase 1 today because of my cheat.

Curious minds..absolutely need to know...what is "better than sex cake" love the name. YOu are doing great.

Being good the past few days has paid off with a great NSV surprise... I usually measure every Saturday morning as soon as I get up, but forgot about it yesterday 'til I had already eaten breakfast... so, I did it this morning... a total of 4 inches lost since last week!!!.. I measure 13 spots, both upper arms, bust, rib cage, waist, abdomen, buttocks, both upper thighs, both calves, both upper knees... a loss of 1/2" in my waist, that was the best... only places I didn't lose were the arms & bust, & those stayed the same... suits me...

I haven't checked with ketostix, but from my headache last night & my (TMI) smelly urine, I'm thinking I'm in ketosis!.. whew!!!!!!!..

I hope everbody is having a SUPER Sunday...

hugs

The eating out of the jar thing - that's how I was with peanut butter. My poor 25 year old son wasn't feeling well so came home from work, rather than go to his apartment in the city, and I had no peanut butter for him. That has not happened since I was pregnant with him. He was happy with a turkey sandwich. And his younger brother is about to take his last final exams in college. I always send their favorite home made chocolate chip cookies to study with. Haven't missed a semester. the last time I did it was in December 2010 - before I started IP. My dh said he'd do it when I was out for the day. As I was leaving the house he said, "What do they mean by cream the butter?" Lol. I told him, "You can do this. You used to land really big jet airliners." Bless him - he had them out of the house and in the mail before i got home. I did have to light some candles to get rid of the lingering smell. Keep up the good work Aunt She!

I see you have been on the diet since October. How is it going? Have you followed phase I the whole time or taken times off. I too have been on since the fall....started last September. I am close to finishing...I hope to be done by the middle of June. congrats

Darbs - I just noticed how much weight you've lost since September. You are amazing!

I started September 13th and by December 24th I was down 52 pounds. I have only lost 21 more pounds since then, but I have spent a week in Vegas, a week on a cruise, 5 nights in Atlantic City/Jersey coast, 2 nights wine weekend in Finger lakes, and 2 other overnights....all of them completely off plan (planned cheats). I am very pleased to have lost 21 pounds with all that.

When I stuck to protocol 100% from 9/13 to 12/24...I lost 3.5 to 4.0 pounds every single week....I would love to start doing that again. I had the omelet for breakfast every day, a salad with homemade dressing and shake for lunch, and meat and veggie for dinner with a bar for snack and 100 ounces of water with a light walk every day during that time...I have been following that for 11 days now and no movement....hoping tomorrow is the day.

Gosh, I would have thought that would do it. Hang in there - it's gotta work.

Maybe I could handle that... I just know I can't be trusted with a jar of Maries blue cheese dressing in the house...

I was the same way with P.B... during the winter, I buy the cheap stuff to make homemade suet for the birds & I even end up eating it out of the jar... & it's usually kinda yucky, as P.B. goes... way to go, getting your dh to do the cookies...

Today was a little tougher than yesterday... had a little emotional, well not really an upset, but a small concern & I really wanted some comfort food... good thing there wasn't any in the house & I didn't want to drive to the store... so I grabbed a few stalks of celery & crunched myself out of the craving... just had a comforting phone call from the guy I was getting emotional over & all is well... sometimes I feel like a teenager...

hugs

Thanks for the advice. My original goal was 140, but at 146 I am feeling pretty good!

I will stick to phase 1 for 2 more weeks and then decide.

I am 5'8" and into a big 6 small 8... Yay!

darbs7 05-02-2011 08:28 AM

Okay today is the first time that I have stuck to 100% protocol past the two week mark after a planned cheat since the beginning of January. I am ready to get this done. I made it through the weekend without anything off protocol.

I am hoping to be close to goal (the new goal that I have set) in 4-6 weeks.

Here's to finishing what I started last September.:carrot::carrot::carrot:

Darbs7 you are doing fabulous. I know it is hard to get back on the wagon once off, but you seem to be commited to a healthier you.

I have finaly lost the 1.6lbs I gained last week and an additional 1.4, all this since Friday. I am hoping that I will lose and additional 2.8lbs this week putting me on target for my goal. So here is to a perfect week :carrot:, because the only person making decisions about what goes in my mouth is me. :D

Everyone have a great day and and even better week. To success.:D

My ph.2 and beyond experience has been another 7 lbs of loss and another size down. I kept waiting for the 3-5 lbs you're supposed to gain back, but they have not.
Everyone's body is different. I definitely made diet adjustments either according to the Dr. or according to my reactions to carbs, which kinds, how often and portion amounts, which could either be less or more than what has been recommended.
I'm in Israel now eating more bread and carbs than I have since starting IP and way more than I usually eat on maintenance. NO scale here. I'll report in with you guys when I get back on Thursday to see how that translated weight wise. I may have finally gained those 5-7 lbs, but I"m not seeing it anywhere as of today.
Bye for now :)

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you all had a joyous May Day!!! I had a great weekend and managed to stay OP the entire time. I did have some cravings last night and almost gave in but decided against it. I will be OP until May 15th for my sisters graduation party!!! So I am trying to tell myself if I want it I can have it that day. We shall see if it works. So far so good.

Hello all!

Just stopping in briefly. As of Saturday it is officially 12 weeks until my wedding. My Mom, my two sisters (bridesmaids) and I have started our own little "12 Week Challenge!" I am hoping to be down to 160 by then, which is reasonable if you go by the 3 pound weight loss average per week. I'm so excited! My dress had to be sent back and remade because they made it about 3 inches too short and it fit me perfectly otherwise, so it is definately going to have to be taken in. :)

Hope everyone is having a great IP day!! I will stop in again soon!!

I made my own version that worked for me...I have attached it...not sure if it will help you.

So officially made it through the first week. Now have to be OP for two more weeks (well pretty close) before my sissy graduates. Feel pretty good today. Once I get through the first week I often wonder to myself why i go back to eating food that is not good for me becuase it just makes me feel yucky. (but I keep doing it). I know that I LOVE food, all kinds and usually the richer the better. But when I have that first week under me I feel great and usually do until I eat that stuff again. Ohhhhh What a cycle I have created!!! YIKES
