Thanks for the answer Carla. There was somebody on the recipe thread that wanted a recipe that might be freindly for someone on phase one on IP for a Miso Soup. What would be the effect of using 2 tbsp of a lite miso paste?

There are several varieties of miso paste and I am not sure of which variety is consider as or reformulated to be light. Many miso paste are made using other grains like barley, rice, or buckwheat. Those may or may not interfere with the diet. It would depend on a persons sensitivity to the grain and how much is incorporated. A simple miso made from soybeans and yeast or, ginger and soybeans will have the least impact. A simple miso would vary and have between .7 and 5g of carbs per tbsp. It will have some fat 1 to 2g usually. And, it will have some protein, roughly 2 or 3g. As you can guess, it won't be calorie free. If a small amount were used in a marinade, soup or recipe that was intended to be shared I would expect the impact to be similar to having used a real soy sauce to season food. Keep in mind soy and tamari are permitted for us to use. When the miso is being purchased, look for one that is made with natural sea salt (it may be labeled organic) and no msg or glutamates. Those sodiums will often cause rapid and extreme fluid retention. AND, look for one that has the lower to lowest level of sodium. You will find one tablespoon of the paste will run 400g to 1500g of sodium depending on the source and amount used in the miso recipe. You don't need the added sodium and related fluid retention messing up your weight loss numbers. |

Help Please
So I've been calling numerous representatives in my area and none of them have gotten back to me and it's been two weeks. IP will only give you a certain amount of numbers so I'm at a lost... I live in Salem, Ma.

My latest thought this a.m., after my coach's insensitivity is as follows:
1. When I was 42 years old (and overweight of course) I joined WW and 13 months later, I reached the goal they set for me which was 137 lbs (a loss of 103 lbs), Unfortunately, the weight for the most part returned and I yo-yo-d for years. 2. Now some 30+ years later, having lost 74.25 lbs in 7+months and weighing 147.25 lbs. my coach suggests I continue and lose 100 lbs. I think she cares not for my health, but more for what she can say about her clinic. It is disappointing because I considered her a friend also, but I probably have to rise above my disappointment and take all the knowledge and help I can as I go thru phases 2,3,4. Actually, I printed the phases out from this site so mostly need the potassium-calcium, and the cal-mags...and my weigh-ins. A happy note.. I have a cruise to Cozamel comng up the first week of Feb so I could be doing phase 3 by then? Mariyn |
Happy Sunday All! I am guilty of checking the home scale frequently during the week. However, I only count my official weigh in and don't let the mid week weigh in at home freak me out, my doctors scale and mine are within a lb of eachother. With that being said, I have to say I am having one wacky wonderful week! I have been trying to get to under 200 for a few weeks and had some missteps during the holidays, I put them behind and refocused. Well according to my scale this morning I have blasted right past getting under 200 and am now at 196.6, and don't have my official weigh in until Wednesday AM. That means I am already at 5-6lbs for the week and still have 3 days left. I was so afraid my body would not let me get to below 200, I actually had myself convinced it wouldn't happen. I haven't been under 200 lbs in at least 12 years, probably more like 15. I just had to say it to someone...thanks for listening!
