this is a great idea for a thread and I'll be thinking about it all day.

Just one side note for newbies: the threads on this forum are open to all the 3fc users, not just IP people. I know there has been a lot of conversation about exercise on IP lately, and I want to mention I am guessing that astrophe and some of the other posters here talking about exercise are not on the IP protocol. It's very exciting to hear other people's motivations, but don't confuse that with the IP plan, ok?

It's the dreaded "front butt, mudflap, hangover, baby bag, fat sack, extra wing" thing. Some of you may know what I'm talking about. If you don't, then pray you never do. It's this skin, filled with fat, that hangs (below my belly button, to where other stuff is. It just hangs.) It actually hurts. I had a small one after my son was born, but after my twins were born about 13 months ago, it has grown. If any of you had this when you started, does it go away? I'm seriously sitting in my car about to cry thinking it may not go away. After I lose the weight, what is there is getting chopped off, no matter the cost. Please tell me it goes away.

I know my motivation should be "to be healthy" or "for my kids," but honestly, it's the sack full of shame on my body that is motivating me.

What are your motivations?

I started at 272 and had a big belly of fat hanging. After losing weight I still have a small one, but I still have over 30 pounds to lose. I think it will be the last thing to go, however I can live with it the way it is. I am in a size 8 jeans and it fits in there, so I am going to believe my body is going to take care of itself with the weight lose.:) I am pretty sure yours will, too.

Motivation... lots of it. Being the thinnest in a family of heavy people I could eat pretty much what I wanted, when I wanted. However, between the stresses of work, school and not losing the weight I gained with my last child (24 years ago!!) etc. I found myself at a weight I promised I would never allow myself to be...over 200 lbs. I would look in the mirror and think I didn't look tooo bad...all until I had a friend tag and post a picture of me on facebook! Ouch! I also started riding horses this summer again and it was some challenge to heft myself up and over the back of the tall horse I was riding. Wanted more energy to play with the grandkids, fit into nicer clothes, look better in pictures and find the 'me' that somehow got lost in the fatter version. My neighbour had lost 80 lbs in a short period of time and has been my inspiration. While I tend to be one of the slower movers in the weight loss department ...IP works. I am down 40 lbs since last March and 28 of those have been on IP which I started in October 2010. Loving the way clothes fit, how I look in the mirror and am much more agile!

It gets smaller. I noticed that my belly is flat now when lying down. Does that count? But no, it really does get smaller. Hopefully it will decrease is size even more. Also at first my skin really hung on my face after losing some weight. Lately I have noticed it is getting tighter. YEAH! My motivation varies.....being able to move better, health, and of course to be able to buy clothes in a smaller size and not looking to see if there is anything that will fit me in a store.

What a kind, reassuring thing to say in such a remarkable context.
