What time do you eat?

After some tips last week about not staying in ketosis long enough with some of my veggie choices I adjusted and lost 2lbs. I thought it might be helpful to see what peoples daily schedule is like as I tend to drop weight on the weekends when I'm up longer and think maybe I need to switch around my time of eating.

Well here goes my week day schedule, please join and post yours also or give me tips if you see something I could change:

6:30am: wake up
8:00am: coffee with 2oz rtd
9:30: IP drink
12:00 veggie lunch & IP
4:00pm IP snack
7:00pm Dinner
10:30pm Bed
Weekly weight loss: 1-3 pounds a week
I like snack before dinner because I'm starving by the time I'm getting ready to go home.

darbs7 12-15-2010 05:05 PM

wake up around 5am
Wii for 30-40 minutes
6:45 am IP omelet with hot sauce and 36 ounces of water
11:45 30 minutes on the elliptical (low intensity)
12:30: lettuce with homemade dressing, celery, cucumbers, IP choco shake and 36 ounces of water
2:30: IP restricted snack
5:15: dinner meat and veggies with 36 ounces of water
7:30: Green tea with 1/2 vanilla RTD from IP

I also drink an additional 36 ounces of water throughout the morning/afternoon and occasionally (2-3X week Wii at 4pm for 30 minutes)

That is my day like clockwork and it never changes
I have lost 3.2-3.8 pounds all but 2 weeks out of 13 (and three weeks were over that amount)

Thanks Darbs, I don't know much about WII's so I'm assuming its a cardio or some type of exercise you are working on there? Your weekly average is great!

It is the Wii fit video game system...awesome fun light cardio

My day:

0500 - wake up
0600 - drink about 10 oz. of water on my way to work
0630 - cup of hot tea before starting my shift
0900 - IP packet
1100 - IP packet, salad/veggies, 20 oz of water
1300 - 16 oz water
1500 - 16 oz. water
1700 - dinner meat, salad/veggies, more water
1700-2000 - more water
1930 - IP vanilla shake made with brewed chai tea

I know that it was mentioned the other day that really we should be consuming water throughout the day gradually rather than just dumping it all on over the course of a few hours, but because of what I do for a job, I'm kind of limited while I'm at work.

I've been averaging just over 3 lbs a week - WI #10 is tomorrow.

my day-

7- wake up and drink a glass of water while i get ready for work
730- coffee

9- arrive at work and continue drinking water
until 12noon i just keep drinking water
1230- packet and salad with 2 cups veggies
1-5pm- continue drinking water and add a cup of hot tea (and have a piece of sugerfree gum IF i need something to chew on.)
5-6- driving home from work
7 pm- have dinner then 3rd packet
I dont consume ANYTHING after 8 pm except tea or water.

This seems to be working great!! I am now very used to not eating anything after 8pm :)

Congrats to you for continuing to find ways to make the process work for you and your body! The only comment I would have about your schedule is that due to eating you snack midday and you breakfast so late you are going over 14 hours out of every 24 with no essentially no caloric/protein intake. I was not a morning person when I started IP and like you, would delay breakfast for several hours after waking up. I eventually began to force myself to eat earlier. I don't know if it helped my weight loss or not (I was almost to the point of phasing off) but it made it a lot easier to move to phase 3 where you are REQUIRED to eat the big breakfast.

I"d be interested to hear other people's thoughts but I was told that as soon as you eat in the morning your body begins to rev up and your metabolism increases. So if you eat earlier you are burning more calories sooner. Not sure if that is science or myth, though.

I wonder if you could do an afternoon snack with 1/2 your IP and some veggies (celery stix?) and then do the same right before bed? Or move your breakfast earlier?

anyway, great job on your loss!

Hmmm. This might be something for me to try. My Dr said I should wait later in the morning to have my IP packet so I can burn more fat in ketosis but I totally agree with you that it is a long break and that overnight fast does need to end. I think I'll try having my IP packet first thing in the morning and see if this mixes things up a bit.

Thanks everybody for the responses. The other thing I was thinking about was wow maybe I need to wake up at 5am! I see all the early birds who are doing well. I just can't get myself to wake up earlier when it's so cold in the morning

I was eating green beans several times a week rather than sticking to a total of two cups max for the week of this occasional veggie in addition to Brussels sprouts. I thought because I was working out 4-5 days a week it wouldn't effect me that much. I also didn't realize the serving max was 2 cups for a week and not total in the day. Green beans are high carbs. I also was eating edamame which I guess was a big no no so I switched to eden gardens soy black beans.

wyoangel 12-16-2010 02:02 PM

0645-Wake up
0715- 1st packet (pills)
10:30- if I can (when students are out), I'll have a pickle, jello, or half a bar
1145- 2nd packet, salad (spring mix, spinach, romaine, g. onions, evoo, a. cider vinegar, Mrs. Dash), (pills)
1500- 3rd packet or bar
1800-2000- dinner (pills)

I have a mug (it is truly huge, and I get so many comments on it!) that is 100 oz. I freeze water in a Tupperware container and add that to my water. I make my goal to finish the whole thing off.....I succeed about once a week...but I come close most days.

oh ok....that makes sense then.
I miss green beans terribly...but i know i cant have them right now :(

ive always loved veggies, but now I crave green beans and all the other veggies we have to avoid while on IP!!!

BUT its better to crave veggies then the other stuff I used to crave :carrot::carrot:

darbs7 12-16-2010 02:52 PM

I eat the same veggies everyday for lunch celery and cucumbers.

For dinner I rotate Collard greens (2X a week), aspargus (2X a week), brocolli or cauliflower, and then a stir fry or two (bean sprouts, mushrooms, radicchio, spinach, bok choy)

Every other week I have brussel sprouts (1 cup)...as a treat ( I love them)
