Newbie here, and I've never posted on a board before. Starting the IP protocol on Monday, so reading all your stories and seeing the success this program brings is very inspirational. Thanks for sharing your stories. I am a stay-at-home home schooling mom of four boys ages 13 to 4. So it should be easy to follow the IP plan since I'm home to fix anything I need, but also home to be tempted by everyone else's food. Can't wait to see how my first week's results roll in. I found this board last night and was thrilled to find such a large IP community out there. My Dr. and his staff are also following this plan so we'll all be going through together with our own little support group. Should be interesting! Wish me luck!

Hello everyone! I thought I would introduce myself.

I'm not new to 3FC and have been a member for nearly 8 years now.

My highest weight was 205.

I was always very very thin as in 103 soaking wet with rocks in my pockets. I'm 49 years old and have 2 children who are grown.

My weight gain started probably a year after the birth of my 2nd child. I had lost all the weight from the pregnancy and was maybe 121 and my mother started making comments saying I was too thin. I would get comments about me being anorexic or bulimic or something. I am 5.4 so 121 is nowhere near too thin. My marriage was very bad to a mean abusive drunk.

I found a miracle to cope in anti depressants. What the good doctor didn't tell me was the side effects of these drugs. I gained over 50 pounds in 6 months or so. I became more miserable and had a viscous cycle of eating more and more and gaining weight until I reached 205.

I joined WW and managed to lose about 20 pounds and stayed there for awhile.

Finally I moved out from my husband in 2003 and quickly dropped another 10.

Then in 2004 I had met someone online and was talking to him for a few months and we were going to meet. He lived in Australia and me in the US. I never posted any full body pics to him. I was too ashamed.

I had never dated as an overweight person.

Finally we set a meeting date several months down the road and I thought if I can just get to 150, I will feel confident enough to meet him.

So I drank EAS protein shakes and ate air pop corn for 3 months and didn't cheat a bit. I was working out almost every day. The weight melted off.

I showed up there in Oz a slim size 10!

I managed to keep the weight off pretty good with portion control. I had some cosmetic surgery done in 2007 and was up 14 pounds the day after surgery!

By that time me and my now husband were pretty serious and I had decided to move there in 2007. So now I live here in Oz.

I managed to keep at 160 until we moved in together. My husband is one of those guys who is really tall and thin, like 6.3 and 170. He loves fast food and chocolate so he would frequently get us fast food, pizza, and 3-4 large blocks of chocolate. I can't be around chocolate without binging on it so I would never buy it or keep it in the house. Well the chocolate was always laying around I was eating it. So needless to say I was up to around 177 in now time.

We got married and then last year was a very bad year with deaths in the family and a stressful job situation. It was funny because at work I would eating perfectly and then I would get home and eat pizza and chocolate or even if I ate well all week, I would ruin it all on the weekends.

So I started at 194 and thought there is no way in bleep I am going to weigh 200 again! No way.

So the 31 of December I started a proper diet. No junk food, no chocolate, and no fast food at all. Lots of water and walking every day. I don't drink soda so that was never an issue. I keep my calories below 1500.

The first week I get to 189 and I am thrilled. I thought this is great. I'm on my way. Next week is TOM. So here I am a month later at 191.5 and the weight is not budging at all! I have lost no inches.

So for some reason, a regular diet is not working for me this time at all.

I came back over to 3FC and was looking around and found the Ideal Protein forum. After reading about it, it sort of sounds like how I lost all the weight before so I thought I would research it and do it.

So here I am ready to get going and lose this weight! I have to go out and buy my items so will very likely start this evening or in the morning.

I'm glad to be here and wish everyone luck in achieving their goals!

So I went to my first consultation for Ideal Protein (IP) so I ready to get rid of this extra weight.

As a teenager I was a average size 10 weighing about 130 and once I had my first child at age 22 I gained 100 pounds and have tried every diet on the market to lose the weight. I sit behind a desk for 8 hours a day which contriubutes alot as well.

Ready for a change, so I started IP on January 16th. One week on IP and I lost 9 lbs, I was super excited. I have a goal to be under 200 by May 1st, which following the protocol for IP should be attainabe since you lose on average 3 lbs a week.

I weigh in Monday January 31st for week 2....can't wait to see what I lost this week!

Super excited about IP!

The first couple days I found difficult with cravings and headaches but it all went away.

Default hi there

I'm mostly a lurker who appreciates all the fabulous support and information on this site. This is actually the first time I've ever 'joined' an online forum and it's incredible! Decided to make a lifestyle change b/c I'm almost 40 and obesity runs in my family. Selected IP b/c a couple of girlfriends were very succesful on this protocol. Love everything from movies and books (rom-com, thriller, history - depends on my mood!) to exercise (running, zumba, yoga - this diet has been tough b/c tried working out after 2 weeks but then weight loss stalled so stopped working out but started losing again. I digress - LOL). Looking forward to getting my Kindle once I reach goal. Good luck to everyone!

Hello everyone! I've been lurking too (seems I'm in good company ) for quite a while. My story is long and dramatic, but I'll skip it tonight to say that I just had my introductory meeting for my IP program this evening - I've got all my packets and info for the first week (which I will either start Sunday or Monday), and I'm really excited/nervous! There are so many wonderful and inspiring stories on this forum - I feel like having this type of support will really make the difference for me, and help lead me towards success.

I'm a mom to three gorgeous kiddos (I used to homeschool too, and we may return to it next year), and I am a very proud wife to my police sergeant hubby. I will be returning to nursing school at the end of March, and I'm hoping to get a good start on my weight loss by using IP. I'll continue to lurk for support, and maybe stick my head out to post now and then - I LOVE this website!!

I have been married for 24 years. My DH is on this weight loss journey with me. He is using the alternative products and is very supportive. We have two children; our son is 21 and our daughter is 19. Both are currently away at college, so cooking at home is a breeze right now. We have an 8 year old 'puppy' - an Airedale Terrier. I enjoy reading, watching movies, shopping with my DD and going on cruises! I love Hawaii and the Caribbean! When I'm not cruising, I work as a computer programmer and analyst.

I can't remember a time when I wasn't dieting or concerned about my weight. I found an old diary from when I was 16 and mad because I weighed 110, I just had to get down to 105! Then, when I was 21, I found WW. I joined at a weight of 129 and lost 18 pounds (what I would give to weigh 129 now). I became a lifetime member and when I was 24, I went back ( I had gained everything back plus some), got down to 117 this time and began working as a WW weigher and then a receptionist. Then, I gained 51 pounds with a pregnancy; but, got down to 130 a few months after my son was born. I only gained about 20 with my daughter and was able to get down to 125 by the time she was 1. I can't begin to count the number of times I went back to WW since then and couldn't lose (at least 6). I have also tried Adkins, Curves (6 years), SouthBeach, and Insulin Resistance Diet. I even went to Curves 6 days a week and then a gym 5 nights a week. I lost 30 pounds my first year at Curves but gained it back and couldn't lose again no matter what I did. The first time on each of the diets I would lose but couldn't keep it off and the diet wouldn't work when I went back. My Dr. said that I was insulin resistant due to the PCOS so he had me try Metformin. It did nothing. Then he switched me to Byetta injections. The lower dose let me lose 1 pound the first month. That wasn't worth all of the shots in the stomach. He increased my dosage and I lost 6 lbs. the first week -never mind I couldn't keep anything down all week. So, I basically gave up. I was seeking treatments for migraines at one time and was on Topamax. I lost about 30 pounds and kept it off about a year, but then the weight came back and so did the headaches. So, I quit that. Since I have the PCOS, I kept thinking it would be so great if I could find a diet that was approved and supervised by a doctor's office. I looked on-line but didn't find anything. Then one day I was looking at my GYN's web site and found the Ideal Protein Diet. I got so excited reading about it because everything they mentioned (IR, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, border-line diabetic) fit me. So, my IP journey began.

I love this program. I do get discouraged, but it helps to have this wonderful group of people to chat with that can actually relate! After reading the posts, I get motivated again. Thanks for posting, everyone!

HI I am getting close to going into the 4 stage of the IP protocol. I have about 5 more pounds to go to meet my goal of 40 pounds off. I have a question .. a friend of mine lives in Alberta, and would like to find someone who offers the ip plan. I don't know if there is a contact number or some other way to help her with this..

Hi! I am on day 2 of Ideal Protein. I was introduced to the diet by my family physician. I have been overweight all my life, and was diagnosed with PCOS in high school. My last family physician told me that I had magically gotten rid of the PCOS, and so I switched physicians for a second opinion.
I am dating the most supportive person I have ever met, and teach grade one in a French school. I am the oldest of five kids who have (or are) all struggled with their weight.
I have been reading the forums lots over the last few days and find thei nformation helpful and the stories inspiring! I look forward to continuing to use this resource as my journey continues!

Hi Condanchri, I am starting the protocol Monday as well so we'll be going through at the same time. I saw that you used to be a homeschooler and we are too. We have four boys ages 13 to 4. Sounds like you have a lot on your plate with getting ready to go back to school. Hope we are as successful with IP as all these wonderful folks have been. This is a great place for inspiration and encouragement, that's for sure! Good luck with that first week!

Default helps to hear all this from everyone: thanks

My physcian had retired for a several years to be home w/ her small children. When my college age daug. asked me to find her a good female physican I went to see this dr again for her, in spring of 2010. She mentioned she had a successful weight loss program and held meetings a few times a mo.and I should come to one. Well I went and found it interesting, and as another gal and I, who had struck up a converstaion were walking out a woman joined us. She had lost 70 lbs in a relatively short time and looked great. I did not do anyting right away, because of course there was busy summer coming, then a fall vacation, then thanksgiving. The Christmas schedule was changed and for the first time it would just be myself, husband and our 1 and only daughter. Sooooo I decided to start the first part of Dec and just keep it b/w me and my family. Did not need the stress of family and friends, well meaning of course, checking in and watching me do this. (all other family lives 2 to 4 hours away.) I'M 61, was very thin as a child, at age 21 weighed 110. Married at age 23. At 30 weighed 132. From age 35 slowly gained. Our daug. was born when we were 40. For the first time I stayed home from work and over the next 20 years gained 2 lbs a year to add 40 lbs to the extra 40 I was already carrying. Why is it so hard to figure out not changing your eating habits and cutting your activity way down is going to put weight on? with IP I have lost 21 lbs in 7 weeks with another 1.5 at this weeks WI. I had joined WW aprox 8-10 x and barley lost. Too many choices. I'm shy about being on this site and "exposing" myself but find the info, stories and support so kind and honest it was hard not to want to participate.Thank you all for sharing your stories, may you all find the success and peace you desire. IP has kept it reasonable to do, low hunger, good results, and this website for support. Gods blessings to you all.
