How close are you to your period? That can do it to you. Hang in there. Lately I get severely run down right before my TOM (time of month) starts... like right now. Also add some Omega 3s of Flax seed oil caps to your day... that might help. it's HUGE for me

I have had the same experiences twice since starting IP. And I too did a similar thing with the sugar and feeling better within 2 hours. I talked to my coach about it and she believes that I am hypoglycemic and my sugar level was too low. I'm not sure if you can have restricted yet but she suggested that I buy some chocolate soy puffs and start with 3 puffs and I should feel a difference within an hour.

You're not alone! Just talk to your coach about it and see what he/she suggests. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same though. Hang in there!!

HALLELUJAH!!! :celebrate: I'm back into fat burning mode!! Down about 1/2 pound this morning from my lowest point this time last week! Man, this was a ROUGH week!! So much for trying to sneak in a little cheat. Forget it!! It's so not worth it when it puts me behind a week!!

skinnytobe 09-03-2010 10:21 AM

Well, I had a partial hsteryectemy in my 20's, so no period. Guess I must be hypglcemic. I get so scared-can this be dangerous? I worry about passing out or even dying. I know I sound crazy but trust me it's a crazy feeling. Thanks for your suggestions.

skinnytobe 09-03-2010 10:24 AM

Thanks Kristiv88 - I will try and hang in there. I just want to loose 5 more pounds- seems like I always get a glitch in the road when I am almost there!! LOL

Good morning! I am a newbie here. I am Type II diabetic, on insulin (!) and am seriously considering IP or Medifast. I have read lots of posts, but I am wondering if anyone can tell me about the differences between these two diets. I know my metabolism is really messed up, so IP makes so much sense to me. Any thoughts about the differences between the two? Thanks so much!

Just make sure you mention how you're feeling to your coach. He/she may have different suggestions to help you.

;)

I actually had a similar experience a few weeks into IP, after a blizzard. I was trying to clear 36 inches of snow from around my car and got pretty tired out. A short time later, I was cleaning out a lower shelf of the refrigerator, and when I stood up, I felt dizzy and sick. It was scary. I got myself some water and sea salt, and checked my BP, which was quite low... so I lapped up the salt and sat in a recliner with my legs elevated. When I felt okay to walk around, I got up and found an IP bar, and ate that slowly. I began to come around after that, but I would say it was a couple of hours before I truly felt back to normal. I felt well enough to eat some lunch, and counted the bar as my protein. (The only time I had a restricted item on IP.) During this episode, I spoke to my EMT sister a couple of times to report in... I also monitored my BP very carefully after that, and ended up reducing my meds.

Judging from your reaction, I suspect that whatever was happening triggered a panic attack, which only made it worse. An obvious IP-related factor could be dehydration and/or not enough sea salt intake. Another is blood pressure... it could go down on this diet, which will be worse if you are on meds that already lower your blood pressure.

I would check these things before I assume anything worse... but I do understand that it can be very frightening. Take it easy and hopefully it won't happen again... for me, it never did. If it does happen again, check in with your IP coach and/or your doctor.

Good morning!

Skinnytobe -- that sounded like it was very frightening! HOpe you are okay and are able to stick with IP!

I feel pretty good this morning! Still at 17 lbs lost (I started the diet exactly 3 wees today) so I am quite happy!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! The kids go to school soon! That makes me happy! 5 kids at home all summer is too much to handle at times!!!:dizzy:

Not saying for sure this is it, but are you getting enough sea salt?.. the only time I've felt bad, light-headed, on IP was when I decreased my daily dose from 3/4 teaspoon to 1/2 tsp... didn't seem like much difference, but it sure affected me... when I increased it back to 3/4 tsp., my dizziness went away... some days, when I've been doing something sweaty, I even go up to a full teaspoon... anyway, I hope you don't have any further problems, I know that kind of thing can be scary...

~~~~~~~~~
Thanks, everybody, for the compliments on my photo!.. I was really reluctant to put it up, over the past 20 years or so, I've taken "camera-shy" to extremes!.. but I decided it'd be part of that whole "baring it all" thing I've got going these days, opening myself up in ways I'd always been afraid to in the past... having a SUPER support group here makes it easy!.. you folks are the GREATEST!.. thank you, thank you, thank you!..
hugs :hug:
Saw your picture and I am very impressed... I hope I look half as good as you when I get to your age!
I agree with the others that it sounds like you may need more sea salt, also have you ever had your iron levels checked? My muscles start feeling really weak (like I don't want to move weak) whenever my iron gets to low. I hate taking iron pills but they do seem to help me. Maybe check in with your Dr. if the additional sea salt doesn't do the trick.
