Alternative Vitamins

Looking for the best alternative to the IP multi-vitamins. Thanks in advance for any help.

If nothing else, this will allow you to compare anything you're considering against the IP supplements.

Thank you. Much appreciated.

Clicking this link will prompt your browser to open a pdf file, you'll get whatever the usual warnings, requests, dialogs you usually do.

Great spreadsheet. Thanks for sharing. This will definitely help in comparing products.

I really like the women's mega active vitamin energy formula from GNC.

My coach didn't take me off of my womens one a day she told me that they were as good as theirs I am not sure if this will help or how anyone else feels about this.

Good question! I looked at a few vitamins and ones like Women's One A Day seem to be very similar also some Centrum... but you only take one a day. With IP you talk 2 vitamins, 1 potassium, 4 cal mag. Would you just take 2 regular non IP vitamins? If I can cut some cost on the pill portion that will help me stay on the diet. Anyone else using something different? Are you still supplimenting maybe the cal mag and the potassium? Love to hear from you...

hunter2 do you take the IP potassium? I remember it being mentioned before about not being able to find a potassium with as many mg as the IP ones.

Thanks this helps alot! I like the women's version of One A Day... seems to have things formulated for women .... for example Lycopene is more geared to helping men with healthy hearts and prostates... since women don't have prostates why would I take a vitamin that has vitamins I don't need...

Thanks again as I feel good about replacing my multivitamin with this one.

Re: Alternative multi-vitamin. When I lived on the mainland I used to take Trader Joe's Super Vitamin. About 8-9 years ago Prevention Magazine published a list of vitamins, minerals, etc. that would compose an absolutely ideal multi-vitamin. TJ's came closest, by far. Hope this helps for comparison.

My coach told me just to continue taking my One A Day for Woman, too. I do take the Natura (IP) Cal-Mag and Potassium one in the morning.

Thanks so much you guys. I am going to shop for vitamins today. I take Spring Valley Cal/Mag/Zinc. Get them at Walmart. I just don't want to spend so much on the vitamins. Looks like this thread helped some other people, too. Great!!!

Okay, okay. Hold up. The spreadsheet says that 1 Cal-Mag tablet has 750mg of calcium citrate, which seemed REALLY HIGH to me. So I checked this morning at WI, and the serving of 4 tablets of Natura Cal-Mag only has 600mg of calcium citrate, meaning each tablet would have 150mg, not 750mg.

I've never used the Natura Cal-Mag (I get mine from GNC), so can anyone who uses the Natura Cal-Mag confirm the 750mg of calcium PER TABLET? Seems super high to me! (It would mean that I've only been getting a fraction of the calcium required since I started the program).

I'd hate to see a bunch of people on the board popping 3000mg/day of calcium, when the requirement is only 600mg.

I'm svelting! 08-18-2010 12:03 PM

Thanks for catching that. Tonight, I'll look at my Cal-Mag bottle again ... in bright light and with a magnifying lens if needed and will confirm that it is correct from my bottle or upload an updated spreadsheet. Volunteer labor, you get what you pay for! ;)
