Since I'm doing alternative IP, no IP products, I was wondering about the soy nuts... are they just like regular toasted soy nuts like you can get at the health food store, or are they prepared some special way to fit better with IP?.. I probably shouldn't even ask, I love toasted soy nuts & would probably go overboard if I ever got my hands on them...

That makes sense. Our packets are 90% bio available protein. Protein from an animal protein source (our dinner) is only 60% bio available. It takes a bit longer to break down and get to us and we don't get as much out of it.

Are you measuring? Are you sure you aren't under eating on the protein. If you aren't measuring try to for awhile. You would be surprised what missing a little of something that you don't get as much of to beginning with could be doing! :)

Keep drinking lots of water, the more hydrated you are the weaker the color can be but the key is to stay in ketosis (light or dark color I dont think matters?)

oh wow the Cellulite bumps really go away?? woo hoo!!

ok good- my stix always show trace or small amount of ketones

You know I have been having about 4 bars a week, not daily and I DID have heart palpatations a few times in the evening- I just breathed calmly thru them..hmm. I will mention this monday at my weigh in..

re excercise: I honeslty could not do it within the first few weeks, my body had nothing to give. After a month though I was able to do it with only 3 packs a day but I would have my snack pack after working out, that helped alot AND I have some of the vegetables that I am supposed to have for lunch about an hour before working out.

THANKS! :) I've missed being here as much. Trying to catch up is hard and i see SO MANY new people! That is so exciting! :)

Too funny! I loved that happy panda image!

Are you having any lettuce with dinner? I have a large bowl of romaine lettuce every night with dinner. Sometimes I think I should just get a bucket!:dizzy: Usually I just put my meat and some olive oil and an IP dressing in with the lettuce. If I happen to eat my meat separate, I just eat the lettuce with my 2 cups of veggies or alone with dressing. Either way, I eat the lettuce. This seems to really help fill me up in the evening.

Just noticed your goal to reach Onderland by Aug 3rd... looks like you are going to get there girl!

I rarely measure... I have a little kitchen scale though, so I should start. I did weigh my protein tonight though, just not my veggies. I'm going to start weighing/measuring all the time and see if that makes a difference. :) Thanks!

7 Energy Bars That Deliver - on Shine...

I haven't been using any protein bars, so I clicked on this link to see what they had listed... way, way too much sugar, looks like to me...

Your thoughts?..

I made it through day 2 despite to delicious array of homemade baked goods at my meeting this morning. I never realized how much I loved carbs, or really just food in general. I have a weigh in on Monday...hopefully its good!

showgirlaz 07-29-2010 08:50 PM

Hey everyone! HELLO! :) I've missed you all while I was gone. I am back and trying to catch up. I will do my best but, WOW, Ya'll had a lot happening! :)

Here is a bit of the latest on me for those curious ;)

SO, as most people know I hit a wall of sorts in early May. I didn't want to do this plan the way I had anymore and I had lost my "drive" somehow. I was losing a little here, a bit there and feeling mildly frustrated about my options.

I tried not to talk about my deviations or cheats; not sure it helps me much. But during the May and June months I wasn't as true to plan as possible.

THEN, I go on the trip. I was faithful. I did my best. I ate well everywhere and carried my bag f on plan options and... I finally get to a scale to find a heavier me. YES! I know it was a "TOM" kind of weigh in but, 13 pounds!!! No, it wasn't the scale. My clothes were saying something similar.

YEP... 13 pounds. I got to my home scale Monday, and.... 13 pounds!! ARRRGHHH!.... I can only assume it was all the eating out which, must have had bad salt on it or something. Or maybe, I got a bit dehydrated and was retaining water??? I really am very bad at getting in my water while traveling.

Anyway, it is Thursday night and I am happy to report, I have lost my "travel weight of 13 pounds.. and an extra 1.5 to boot." :) "WHEW"

I am rather amazed that I had so much to drop. I am equally delighted that IP did it again and, 4 short days later, I am at a weight less than when I left. I can't wait for my next weigh in.

I have been in ketosis strongly for over a week now. I finally am feeling the way I did when I first began the plan. YEAH!! I am so happy to not be in that rut of a place still.

SO, for all of you who haven't been on the program 8 months yet but might need to be, my tip for you is, be patient with yourself. The going does become a bit dull and very slow but steady. It seems that if you can get past it, you do get that zippy burning feeling again. At least, I have had it since July 17 and nearly 2 weeks later, it isn't fading yet.

My body is happily losing and, my real victory! My size 10 pants are too lose, my size 8 slide on nicely and I finally look nice in my size 28 Paige shorts and jeans. Those were my last... gonna make this work things.

While we were on vacation my dad asked me when I was going to stop? Was I worrying about becoming too skinny? My sister said she doesn't think I need to lose much more. I said "I do" and she said " from where?" All she could grab was my much smaller saddlebags and a little below my triceps. She said "I can even see your ribs!" No one said stop. No one said give up now. I am grateful to them for that. It was nice to see them noticing and worrying about me for being to thin.. that was new. I know I still have the pounds to drop and I know that some of the change to come will be from toning and exercise. I am just so grateful that I found something that worked at helping me improve my health, diet, weight, and choices. :)

Your body will burn the sugars first before even thinking of getting to your fat to burn..it will be hard to lose weight at that rate...I did FULL BARS for a while, dropped some poundage- they are just fiber and you drink to 'bloat and fill up" This PROTEIN way is so much better! I am a very slow loser, so inches will come off each week even if I lose 2pounds or under...:snooty:

Midlife Meggie 07-29-2010 08:58 PM

Well, I survived. Whew. Surrounded by whipped sweet potatoes, honey-dipped chicken wings and ribs smothered in sauce, I stuck to my "heart" salad with grilled trout on top. Then home and while everyone else is devouring celebratory cupcakes, I am drinking my virtuous water with lemon and ice and enjoying my raspberry/chocolate bar. One tempting dinner down, several more in the next few weeks to go.

I just hope it gets easier. Right now I would KILL for one of those cupcakes. :(

i ALWAYS have to ask the pharmacist, for some reason in texas you can't get much of anything besides tylenol without going to the pharmacist. the ketostix are bayer brand and are normally used for diabetic testing :) ask the pharmacist!

the soy nuts on a salad are amazzzzzzzzzzzing! i throw them on some romaine with oil and vinegar and a slice or two for lean turkey lunch meat for lunch and cut back my dinner protein a bit, the garlic and onion remind me less of a crouton and more of sunflower seeds. SOOOO GOOD! AND! they have 9 carbs but 4 is fiber so only 5 net carbs-better than the unrestricted chocolate drink and cereal in my honest opinion which have 7 net each :)

couldn't agree with you more about getting back on and getting back to where we left off:) i'm offically back down at 163 after my binge on the c&s over this past weekend where i gained 5 LBS from friday to monday. good learning experience though, i know now that i retain more like 5 lbs of glycogen stores and not 3, so i'm going to 155 so when i'm off i can settle comfortably at 160!

OH! and i'm working on a homemade version of the chili to add to salads for a taco salad type of meal since chilis are backordered right now:(

it includes 1 lb lean ground beef, half the tomato sauce normally called for(3 carbs in 1 8 oz can), black soy beans(2 carbs per cup!! thanks carla for suggesting this forever ago, i finally found them!) and McCormick chili seasoning. i will let you all know how this works out.

this should make about 4 servings-so about 1.25 carbs per serving, much lower than the ip chili packs!!;)

lldutton 07-29-2010 10:08 PM

Do any of you grill your Romaine? My coach told me about it and it is so good and helps me get in all my lettuce. Just split a head of it in half lengthwise, spray cut side with olive oil spray, season with sea salt and other allowed seasoning. Then grill with cut side down for just a minute or two, watching it closely. Couldn't imagine how it could taste good :p, but it does!
