AGREED!!! Another thing we have to remember is that we didn't gain all our weight in one meal, one binge, one weekend, or one vacation - it was years of bad food choices.... right?!

WAHOO!! Congratulaions on your NSV's!!!
that is very nice to hear. I guess this is my test, I mean this week cause I am a little freaked about weight. Wish they had a scale here

although I really have to say that in my case right now the main problem is that my mom is cooking, she is not using olive oil. No matter how much I tell her that I can't eat something, I know she is using stuff and I just have a feeling that food is not what I should be eating so hence I either not eat OR eat what I shouldn't eat. So for me for these 3 days it would have just been easier to rely on packets than to try and explain all of these. She prepared zucchini, and no matter how much I said do not saute the onions too much, I know that they were totally caramelized so what am I to do. Offend my 80 year old mother, starve or say whatever I deal with it when I get back home.

can I just have a smoke please?

I have a question. Is your first day on IP considered to be the day you start eating the food or is it the first day you started to cut out sugar, certain carbs ect. and did not have the IP food.

When I walked in the door, she mouthed, "oh my gosh" about three times, then she made me spin around a couple then she grabbed me and hugged me and told me how great I look. What a motivator!! She had not seen me since March I think.

Today, ... I found a cute pair of Bermuda shorts, picked up a size 16 and thought, what the heck, ... I slipped them on over my pants, they got up and were tight so my mom said they won't be tight in a week, let's get them. ... Yooohoooo!! When I started my membership at the gym a year ago, my goal was not a #, it was to get into size 16.

What a great weekend. You must be thrilled to have slipped into your goal size! Now What??? I think you might actually get to see yourself in a size smaller than you ever imagined! All that working out and this diet are going to take you places you never thought to go.

Ok, so you have me thinking. How did I gain the weight? I realized I have a habit of gaining 30 pound in about 3 to 6 months. Also, I realized this has happened in 4 distinct periods of time. I wonder what causes that! I also have had 3 times that within short windows of time, 4 to 6 months, I have shed up to 60 pounds. Again, I wonder why.

I have to admit, I am afraid. I hate being on phase 1 however, I find it is safe. I am very concerned that I will regain the weight. Not immediately but, in 6 months or a year, after I have relaxed and become comfortable. Maybe I bent the rules one to many times. I don't know.. maybe that weird something that causes me to do rapid weight gain returns??? I am concerned. Hopefully, a year, then two and more go by and I don't fluctuate. But, HONESTLY, yeah, I am worried.

Some people never use IP products but still consider themselves on IP. I would say, that day you begin following the protocol is the day you begin. That means following the eating program completely not just removing the sugar or carbs. The reason I say that is, atkins, south beach, zone. carb addicts diet and, a few other low carb diets all have induction phases of sorts that get rid of carbs and sugars.

I'm in Osceola county. Saint CLoud, FL. I'm surrounded by Orlando, Kissimmee, Melbourne/Cocoa area. It's about 3 1/2 hours DH said. But if ever you're in the area, we should have lunch! (IP approved of course)

Water retention? If you're not drinking enough, your body may retain water to compensate. Paradoxically, fluid retention can sometimes be eliminated by drinking more water, not less."

The reason I know this is true is because a LOT of tourists to Hawai'i get dehydrated (as well as sunburned) because they don't realize that the higher the humidity, the more body moisture you use. I know it sounds counterintuitive on the surface but do drink more water when the humidity is high. Since we rarely ever get the really humidity and never the scalding hot temperatures of some places on the mainland, I can only imagine how much greater the effect can be there than here. N.b., record high in Hilo, HI -- 93 degrees F; usual summer humidity -- 65%.
Linny (I don't know why I always call you Linny in my head when I read your name, I'm sorry - LOL), Thanks for the information. I do know all of this, have read it, heard and do try my best to live it. But it's good to be reminded of it!!! I think perhaps I'll need to move to your neighborhood and get out of this heat/humidity that I have lived in all my life!

Linny's good. Why not just come for a visit, first? [Actually, that's kind of an open invitation.] Where I live is, I think, one of the loveliest places on earth, and I've spent some time on 4 continents. But it's not for the faint of heart. You have to tolerate earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, and the VOG [volcanic fog] from a quite active volcano. The trade off? Being able to say lush and trade winds in the same sentence you describe home. Aloha.

So I gained this week. I'm pretty upset about it. Okay, it was .1 lbs but still, even close to 0, it is really upsetting. I went out of my way to be good on my Anniversary trip, denied myself the things I wanted and was generally unhappy about SALAD and soggy veggies the whole freaking time and gained.

Why did I gain? Well, since hiking I haven't been in constant ketosis. In fact, I haven't been in ketosis since Thursday maybe? My hikes have been Wed, Sunday and yesterday. Hiking makes me ravenous, so I eat more. Been making sure I get my oils and such in to fill me up, but I've been hitting 800-850 calories a day on hiking days. On Friday I had almost 50g carbs total with the stupid bar I had instead of ice cream. My only cheat food was 6 croutons.

I'm mad that I have to be hungry on this diet, even when I'm in ketosis I'm hungry. I'm mad that I can't exercise fully to where I feel mentally better. I'm mad that even if I burn 400 calories or more in a workout (I have a garmin that tracks heart rate and all that fun stuff) I still gain or stay the same. I'm mad that I pay all this money and my coach hasn't talked to me in 2 weeks. Some guy in FL was supposed to look over my food journals to see why I was losing so little before exercise and she was going to get back to me, 2 weeks ago. I'm her first vegetarian and she's lost. I'm lost. I'm considering Alternative, as at least it will be a bit cheaper. I'm still unsure and a bit down in the dumps.

This week I'm going to try to do what I did W1, looking at my food journals and trying to keep the same meals. *sigh* I just feel lost and complainy, sorry all!

I've been tracking my loss in a spreadsheet since the beginning of IP. I thought I'd share it with anyone who might want to see how it has been. There are ups and downs. You will see how not consistant my losses have been since the beginning in March.
