Why do we need Cal/Mags??

  • I need a little help explaining the importance of the 4 cal/mags we take everyday. Thanks to the support here, I have a friend starting the IP journey with me today. She plans to lose 120lbs, but the coach did not review what was in here starter kit, and said she was out of Cal/mag, so she would give it to her next week. I thought that was irresponsible. If we need to take 4 of them I would expect they are rather important.
    Oh wise ones.....what is the reasoning behind Cal/mag, and some of its benefits. I okay explaining the potassium part.

  • The reason we need SO MUCH calcium is because when we lose weight our fat cells that are being used up release acids which deplete up all our calcium, therefore in order not to be low on our bodies calcium deposits we take higher doses
  • Thanks Jordanna!. Do you know what the magnesium portion assists with? I have tried scanning back through old post with the "search" thread, I know the info is out there, I just couldn't locate it
  • Some sources claim that calcium and magnesium oppose each other at the intracellular level, thus low magnesium intake causes calcification, or high calcium storage, while other sources maintain that magnesium is needed for proper calcium absorption. As a result, low magnesium intake can be responsible for low calcium levels.
