Only 20 more pounds to make my ideal protein goal. I think I want to be lower than that but, I have been overweight for so long it was hard for me to realistically evaluate myself and what size I could become. SO, in 20 pounds I will be making a determination of 1) do I stay on phase 1 and til when or 2) do I feel satisfied, in which case, I go to phase 3.

Vacation question......
Okay, team, I need your help!!!
My hubby and I are leaving for Edmonton in 2 days to pick up our daughter from university! Haven't seen her since Christmas; so this is long overdue and much anticipated!! Will be gone for more then 10 days. Staying at a hotel that has microwave and fridge so will make my life a little easier! Getting so excited but also a bit nervous!
Don't get me wrong, I am happy to be on vacation, but nervous about how I am going to stay on plan!
I realize it will take some extra planning (already have my cooler all set to be packed!) and knowing how to order at restaurants (hubby and I eat out 1x week for date night!) but its all the other moments of vacation that are starting to scare me! lol!
Namely the 2 straight days of driving 12+ hours across 3 provinces in the vehicle (one way!) Usually I bring a large selection of snacks to munch on during all that down time (read:BOREDOM!!) but that isn't an option anymore!!! So besides a hefty sized bag of celery, there isn't a whole lot of things to choose from that are safe and on plan!! Thankfully my coach acknowledges my increasing panic and is looking into some low carb treats that I might be able to have besides the IP food!
I would really appreciate any suggestions, tips, hints etc on long distance travelling while staying on plan!!!
Starting to get just a wee bit freaked out!

This is your MOD speaking.
Could you chicks please combine your posts by going back and using the edit function rather than posting several posts one after another? Long threads are very slow to load for the folks who are still on dial-up which is why I close threads at 500.
If you are seeing only 20 posts per page, you can change your profile to show 40. Here's how to do this.
Thanks. Holler if you need help.

In addition to celery, I would take cukes tossed in sea salt, and a small bag of peppers cut up...in addition, i would stock up on the salt and vinegar crisps (my coach does not have these as restricted) and the occasional bar as a treat. Take plenty of water, and time yourself between your last nosh...like you said, you may just be bored/thirsty rather than hungry. If you can stand reading and not getting car sick, why not 'treat' yourself to some good old celebrity gossip mags? US, People are great. I also bought Entertainment Weekly from a school fundraiser and love it...Do you have a laptop or portable DVD player? Maybe rent a couple of flicks to watch. I say all of this assuming you are NOT the one driving...lol. My hubby and I have also downloaded books onto our ipods and then play them through the car system. The recorded/podcasts of comedians are also very funny for a car ride.
Edmonton is a great city (I used to live there)...they have wonderful farmers markets on the weekend as well as a great market called Dubaji's (not sure if it is still there or not) on 109th st. I also believe that Jordanna is an Edmonton girl, she may be able to give you more up to date info.
Good luck!

I am not at home so don't have all my vanilla boxes 3 x a day. Yesterday I had Lindora hot chocolate for breakfast, salad and Lindora chocolate cake for lunch and chicken and rhubarb for dinner. All yummy delicious and I had lost a pound this morning. BevS-- first time I tried the Lindora cake. I don't have the WF caramel with me like you suggested so just ate it plain. Funny thing is. I don't like chocolate cake when I'm not on a diet-- one of the few sugars I don't care for. BUT I really enjoyed this little mini cupcake-- wish I had some frosting for it.
And the rhubarb seemed like such a cheat. I had it for dessert with splenda. I am missing fruit so much -- highly recommend the rhubarb for anyone feeling that way.
Thanks BevS for telling me about the cake and that rhubarb was approved for Phase 1.

Hey Kris - you're heading to my neck of the woods I live 15 minutes from Edmonton!
What about packing some extra proteins like those baked naked chicken fingers or some hard boiled eggs....
Have you tried the WF Peanut Butter Spread? Might be good for dipping celery in!

I'm just glad I could help. I believe it's the little, on-plan treats that help us to stick with the diet. I'm going to have to give rhubarb another try. How do you prepare it?

For a road trip I also would do the celery w/WF peanut butter. I take one bag of the vinegar crisps and actually spread them out over several hours. Just nibbling on one at a time. (I get car sick and the salt helps with that). I like the idea of the hard boiled eggs and chicken fingers. It may be a little bit of a cheat, but check out the WW cheese sticks. I use books on tape. They make the ride go so much faster. I would also do better if I drove.
My biggest challenge with it would be drinking the water and potty breaks. Sometimes, I have to go every half hour. At that rate it would take 5 days!!!LOL Hubby might get a little irritated..... and there isn't always a place to stop.
Guess it is kinda like how we need to change our life(after IP). I have always been a snacker in the car, too. I really have to look at changing that. I am notorious for getting fast food and just keep on going. Need to rethink that a little, too. And, it is just like you said...boredom which is why many of us have a problem anyway. Can you knit, crochet, cross stitch in the car? Something to do with your hands. I can't, but wish I could. And if I could do that while driving I'd really get some things accomplished.........Good Luck and have a great time.

Good Morning everyone! I have been trying to figure out for about a week now, how I'm going to start on IP. I have contacted my local clinic and told them that I'm not able to make it in during normal hours because of work and they were not willing to work with me at all. No Ideal to Go programs or anything. So if they aren't willing to work with me, I'm not willing to pay them.
So I have come back to you all for some help. I have a copy of the Phase I Dieter Handout, and I can order from Lindora, but I need help with knowing what vitamins I need to be taking and what extra info I might need to know. Like how many carbs etc. I should be having each day. I'm determined to do IP and get to my goal weight, and the people at the clinic are not going to keep me from it!

It's my little guys 1st birthday on Friday, we're having a big party for him on Sunday. I know it's probably overkill for a first birthday but it's a big celebration for us. As some of you may know we adopted him after 5 years of trying for a baby, then when he was born he was very sick and the doctors told us he had a mitochondrial disease (basically means the cells in his body don't function properly) and wasn't going to make it....after a long week of praying and hoping he started getting better and after a month in the NICU we've never looked back. He's a healthy thriving crazy little boy!
Anyway what does this have to do with Ideal Protein well a few things actually:
1. I can't wait for all my family and friends to see me down 50+ lbs!
2. I need some serious willpower to get through all of this!! The food list is getting more and more amazing as the days go on...have I mentioned that both my parents and Hudson's tummy mummy are Red Seal Chefs?
I was packing up loot bags this morning and of course I picked out all my favorite candies to put in them...why would I do that to myself lol. Then I spent half an hour talking to Hudson's tummy mummy about what kind of cake, cupcakes and ice cream she's making for the party....suddenly my vanilla pudding coffee concoction didn't seem all that yummy!!
Sigh - Diet Gods grant me some willpower
