  • Well its finally here Today is my first weigh in and I am having a little stress about it. I have a love/hate relationship with my scale and I am scared today. I know I have lost weight and especially inches. (NSV - I buttoned a suit jacket that was waaaay too tight before) but in the past I have worked hard and seen no change on the scale. This time I hardly worked at all, so I am just having a little anxiety. I'll let you know what happens! (Keep your fingers crossed)

Your husband will be shocked, won't he? You must feel wonderful.

Still hoping some creative person will tell me what to do with my WF peanut butter and jelly. Without bread, I am lost...
I'm getting my peanut butter and jelly this week sometime... im kind of excited My plan is to make a plain crepe and create some sort of roll up?!? I'll let you know how it turns out, I also ordered the caramel and chocolate. Hope I'm not diappointed!

    Happy St. Patricks Day everyone!!!

    Thanks Cinnamon Sparkles!

You're so nice and WOWWY look at those stats!! I'm glad you found some of my writing funny- I'm actually starting to write a book about my life- yes its been that crazy- Hollywood's got nothing on me!
It's good to hear that someone else has suffered with feeling like UBER CRAP on this- and it took until week 3 to feel better. I started saying- "well I was always exhausted anyways before- so I might as well feel like $#@& and be losing weight..." ha, but I was kind of looking forward to having more energy. So now I will be looking forward to week 3! And I know exactly what youre talking about when you say you have motivation because you never want to feell like that again- I used to be on copious amounts of pain meds for my migraines(specialists didn't know what else to do eventually) and I finally came off when I got seratonin toxicity and it was the WORST 3 MONTHES OF MY LIFE, and i make sure now that i never get back to that point- so I never ever ever have to feel that way again- I'll extrapolate that situation into this one. I'm really determined to not have any cheats or slip-ups either- maybe I'm setting the bar too high but I think its important to have goals and to start strong, or I'd be done already. You get somewhere alot faster taking the freeway then going down a busy road with stop lights- so if my body has to keep stopping and going I think it will take longer, dontcha think? I sometimes have a cup of coffee- not decaf- i wasn't informed that was important. i think i had one or two this wweek with a teaspoon of splenda. can i not have any caffeine at all? really? And it is SOOOO funny you mentioned Athena- the Goddess of War- I've had 4 or 5 people relate me to her before- very amusing indeed. I can see why youre a fav on here! Thanks so much, it was very encouraging! Oh and by the way, for some reason- my weight flucuated and I went UP a pound today I WAS SO PIST - but i ended up with 9 pounds lost and 9 inches lost. not a bad start. I hope i have a good second week!!
    MuayThai Goddess -
See I knew you were Athena! LOL! You lost 9 pounds your first week! OMG that's more than 1 pound a day!!!!! Congratulate yourself.
    You are doing great!

It's so cool that you are concentrating on being the best mommy you can be for your little one. (I'm not a mom - yet). That seems like the best job in the world, and losing the weight is part of it (so you can be the healthiest you that you can be!). You're right, you can take the patience you have with your son and translate it into this diet/way of eating. Don't be too hard on yourself, you are really doing fabulous. I was wondering what was wrong with me the first week- my coach said, oh you'll fell better in week 2. I think it's harder on women than men - my hormones are to blame! I was still cranky and crabby- luckily my boyfriend is so sweet and we're still together (heehee). Week 2 was markedly better than week 1 though. In week 3 I seemed to have evened out, gained more energy, and generally felt way better. Yesterday I was bouncing and hopping in the parking lot to get into work. I think carrying around less weight automatically helps you have more energy!

You can have caffeine. 1 cup of 8 ounce coffee per day with 1 ounce of skim milk in it. I didn't mean to imply you can't. Ack! Silly me. We are just limited to only 1 cup of caffeinated coffee per day.

I enjoy that 1 cup of caffeinated coffee immensly in the morning. Yum! But sometimes I need a little more than water or herbal tea during the day, so I drink some decaf coffee. I asked about the decaf before I started drinking it- my coach says it's fine. His only warning was that it is a diuretic so it makes you "go".

I was going to suggest you become a writer or write a book! How cool that you have already started your book. Woohooo!

Congrats to everyone else on their scale and NSVs too! I'm still catching up on posts- wow you all are really rocking! I love your energy and excitement.

May the luck O' the Irish be with all of you today and every day!
  • carlashera - good luck! It's a lucky St. Patty's day today for your weigh-in! It's time to relax, not stress. The scale will say what it will say. You have followed the plan and done great! I think you've done a LOT of work (not physical but mental) this week. It's really something to prepare all these veggies all the time, cook the right thing, take the shaker and packets to work, drink water, take the vitamins, eat the sea salt and olive oil every day, etc. I'm happy your suit coat fits again! We have the same weigh-in day so I'm with you with the bit of anxiety. I try to relax though. Deep breathing and going to the bathroom directly before hopping on the scale are my ways to prepare.

babs181 - you re-discovered your museum wardrobe! I realized I have a ton of trousers and jeans that are hanging out under things and on shelves that I should try on. This morning I just rediscovered my once favorite jean skirt- I tried it on. It was too big and the green stripy thigh-high socks I wanted to wear weren't professional enough. I'm saving that outfit for this casual Friday. I may have to get my favorite old clothing altered. I can't believe it!

I am hesitant to get rid of work trousers that are too big - maybe I can wear them when I get pregnant? That's a paradigm I know nothing about.

yinyang - very good point about the mental aspect of dieting. That makes me feel stronger inside! Thank you!

So everyone -- what does the Walden Farms Peanut butter and jelly taste like? I want to try it, but I want to take a quick poll- who likes it? Who doesn't? I don't mind the texture (read that the jelly isn't very gelatinous and it's runny). Does the WF PB really taste like peanut butter?

The caramel and chocolate WF dip sound intriguing too. kate87 - let us know how it is when you get it!

don't know if i'm creative but i really like to make a crepe and slather on the raspberry jelly and then roll it up. because it's restricted, i like to save this treat for the weekend and sit with a book - so delish and decadent. try the peanut butter on a pancake or how about mixing a dollop into the chocolate pudding, muffins or chocolate shake - would it remind you of reeses treats?
  • Quote: Thank you to someone, blanking on who now, who last week cleared up what NSV means, I was confused too. And because of that my first NSV. I was getting ready for work this morning, and annoyed, can you imagined annoyed that my pants were too big!!!! So I thought well, I'll iron them a gain, maybe get a few wrinkles out and they'll look a little better. I went into the office where I keep the iron & board, and happened to glance into the closet, light bulb went off!!! I have all these work clothes I haven't worn in years, a mix between them being too small at the time, or too big when I lost weight a few years ago. Pulled out a pair of pants, and couldn't remember why I'd put them in there. Tried them on, they fit awesome, must have been because they were too small, and they were Express, not a brand I'm crazy about anymore, but their sizes at the time did run fairly small, so yay!!!

It's strange to realize I'd forgotten about a whole closet full of suits, and I'll be able to have fun trying them all on now, though hopefully not forever as soon they'll be too big too.
I had the same feeling on Sunday ! Went to get dressed for church and everything was too big ! Although I should of been so happy I was a bit depressed because I had nothing to wear . I Know that is so silly and dosnt make sense . I am trying to hold out till May when my husband comes home for two weeks from Iraq before I go and buy new clothes . I am going to buy me a new easter dress this weekend ! Excited . Everyone have a blessed Day ! Your doing great !
  • Just a quick NSV post. I tucked my shirt in today!!!! First time in many, many years.

    Gotta go...
  • Quote: no, you can do the gym just ask to be put on the athletic protocol-- im doing MUAY THAI you can go to the gym i promise- but usually its not advised to try to increase your muscle mass just maintain it and cardio. there is a specific phase one for athletes.
    MuayThaiGoddess,

Do you have any specific info regarding the athletic protocol? What's the difference? It sounds like something I'd be interested in.

    Thanks,

    Scott
  • dad - woohoo! And welcome to Onederland!!! Sorry I missed posting that before. We're all so proud of you! Bet you look trim with your shirt tucked in!

  • Quote: Yes I wouldlike to know what happens when you get off this diet . Do you still have to ea the same and use the products still ? Or do you just eat healthy with no Ideal protin packets . Im a little nervous about when I get off this . I do not want to gain the weight back ! Does anyone know what happens in phase 4?
If you want to check out the other phase info, it's posted already - at the top of the page click on "other carb reducted diets" all the IP threads will be listed. there are recipes, alternative suggestions, faq and the phase info too. In fact Birman posted the Phase 3 and 4 info in last week's page.

I've done Phase 2 and now am in to Phase 3 - I'm finding it easier every day. Here are the basics - The only difference between phase 1 and 2 is that you replace your lunch IP packet with an actual protein - same as your supper meal. So you're down to 2 IP packs a day (breakfast and snack). I didn't use the IP packs at breakfast but used a liquid egg product that has the same nutritional profile for 1/3 of the price.

Then the difference between phase 2 and phase 3 is that your breakfast changes - you are allowed a carb + an actual protein + fat/dairy + fruit - then lunch, supper and snack are the same as phase 2. Breakfast is a huge amount of food. In this phase you are down to one IP packet - snack.

I have looked at the phase 4 info but have decided that i'm not going to worry about it until I get there. The other phases have been well laid out and I've managed to learn them, eat how i'm supposed to, so i'm not going to (as my friend says) pre-worry. I've been on phase 3 for one week and have lost another 1.7 lbs. Creeping down to my goal weight...

  • Hey Rritiki19 - don't throw that crappy WF ketchup away - add some spices (or not) and use it like a bbq sauce. I didn't like mine either but it really was good when I added some worchestershire (sp?) and spice over round steak or stew meat or roast in the slow cooker. I added cut up turnip, onion (which because it's steamed and not carmelized we can eat), baby carrots and potatoes for my family. Threw it together in the a.m., turned the slow cooker on low and voila...supper is made when i get home that evening.

I'm sure you're looking smokin. Isn't it interesting how other people really notice how we've lost weight and, although you look in the mirror and know that you look better, you're still not seeing it as much as everyone else does. I think we're a little harder on ourselves than we need to be.

Hi, Mom22, I just noticed how close to goal you are. Congratulations on such a great weight loss!

I have been making my own crepe recipe that tastes the same as IP crepes in my opinion. However, it only has 6 grams of carbs, 2 1/2 grams of fiber, and 20 grams of protein, so I have not been counting it as restricted. Anyway, I made a PBJ this morning at breakfast using the crepes and Walden Farms peanut spread and strawberry jam. It wasn't exactly the same, but it wasn't bad.
