Anyway, I'm still slightly confused about how to count veggie meat alternatives on the diet. Are they protein? Are they veggies? Are they both? Are they whatever I want them to be?
I count it as a protein. Remember that you won't lose weight as fast on it though. But you will lose weight. Birman is eating vegetarian with some alternatives and is losing quite fast.l

Thanks, Ogdog. I plan to still do the fish thing, but I do slip in some tofu now and then, and thought the burger might be a nice change, as well. Once I hit my goal, I know I need to add more protein to my regular diet, as I have been woefully negligent in the past.
Oh yeah....the Wii Fit.... we got one at Christmas. I don't know if this is the "new version"...just what was available then.
It DOES NOT announce your weight in voice. It shows it on the screen if you want, but it doesn't do it unless you request. It weighs you every session though so if you didn't want to see it, you don't. It will do it on the fitness test and announce your Wii Fit Age. And it will tell you if you are at risk for being overweight, overweight, or obese and announce that and then will make your Mii bigger depending on what your weight is, but the actual number is private, unless you go to the part and then it is just showing the number and some graphs. I find it hilarious to watch the Mii get more plump. At first I was embarrassed that it went straight to the stop and said "That's obese", but its not a secret to anyone else looking at me.
Wii Fit is fun! If you are nervous, try it out a couple times at home alone.
Another note on the WiiFit is that you can add a passcode for your profile so you are the only one that can have access to it. I found this VERY helpful when after the first few days, my then 3 year old announces-Mommy weighs one-seven-seven! Yup...passcodes are a good thing. I have had mine up for awhile and have been doing a DVD workout, but reading these posts makes me think I may alternate the two! WiiFit is fun!
Good grief! Please start a WEEKLY Thread tomorrow as this one is way over the 500 post limit. I'll try to remember to close it and put a reference back in your new thread. Just PM me.
Second week completed in Napa Valley. Managed to spend one week there with no alcohol. Just watched my husband drink! But I've only lost 4 pounds for the second week. Perhaps it's the bars every day for lunch. Needed to have them instead of anything with water since we were out each day. Meals were not very hard to do -- steamed veggies at lunch and protein and salad and more veggies at dinner. But I will remember the desserts I didn't have at Ad Hoc and Bouchon and Bottega for a very long time...
and the breads.
Guess I should celebrate the 14 pounds, right???
And now I will get back into the Wii fit after all the posts about it so thanks for the motivation.
Committed 1 - I totally agree about the disgusting stuffed feeling when you have enjoyed way too much food. Now it is easier to walk and move and I feel like my body isn't fighting to digest whatever I've eaten. We went from 8am to 5pm non stop each day for a lot of days this past week and I'm sure I would have been way too tired if it weren't for this diet.
Also, someone mentioned craving red meat. Me too!
Not every day but way more than usual.
By the way, does anyone know if lamb is allowed?
Well, this is fairly strange I think as no one else seems to have reported this, but on the second week of IP I got my TOM. It was the wrong week for it too. I'm on Nuvaring and using it in a non-standard way for pain management (chronic back pain due to scoliosis) - I use it for 4 weeks on, no break. I had that TOM for 7 days. The next week I felt normal again. In the 3rd week of IP I got my period AGAIN! The problem is, it is still going. I'm on Day 16 of that period. !!! I called my OBGYN on day 5 and she said I need to start using the Nuvaring 3 weeks on, 1 week off. That week off will be next week so hopefully it will go back to normal. I'm still going to call the OBGYN again on Monday since I know this is not normal and it's very unreasonable.
I also just got a SpineCor brace for my scoliosis on Feb 18 and my nervous system is messed up from that too. Not sure if that affects the monthly cycle.
My clinic told me that your cycle tries to normalize during the diet. One of the girls who works there got her TOM a bit late and was freaking out about it until it happened. Another girl there said her cycle changed times of month and is now only 4 days long, which is shorter than it was before.
I feel your pain!! I, like you, started a week early, and then had a week off, and then started again and have been on for a little over 13 days and still going strong. I have had one no loss week and I have a feeling this week is going to be between 1 and 2 lbs. due to this unfortunate problem (i'm not trying to complain about a 1 or 2 lb loss it's just frustrating when I know it probably would have been more if my cycle was following it's usual pattern but the estrogen bit makes sense. My mom is doing a similar diet and was informing me of that whole process yesterday.
Rachel13 - thank you for sharing!!! I was so worried. But if it's happening to you too, I feel a little better. I'm trying to ignore it. Or we can be miserable together? I had a really small loss last week - 2.2 pounds. I don't know if I've lost any this week, although I now fit into my skinny jeans which rarely ever fit (even at my ideal weight). Also, another pair of work trousers fits as of Friday, but they didn't fit Wednesday. Woohoo! I've started to drink flavored decaf coffee too to try to alleviate cravings for sweet things. I almost made some sugar-free Jello but then I looked on the ingredient list and it has aspartame.
We both started IP the same day. Our weight loss is similar too. Keep up the good work girl!
Hi everyone, Would somebody be able to tell me if these turkey meatballs are ok for me to have. I'm in Canada so anyone familiar with the "Blue Menu" products...this is one (recommended by the Heart & Stroke Foundation).
Here is the nutritional info:
Per serving size 4 meatballs (60g)
Calories 70
Fat 2.5G 4%
Choledstrol 30mg 10%
Sodium 350mg 15%
Potassium 160mg 5%
Carb 3g 1%
Protein 10g
Here's another question and I know that we are not supposed to have ANY alcohol but I wanted to ask if anyone has had a glass or two of wine (I drink dry white) a week without it seriously impacting the diet. I'm not much of a drinker but today when CANADA wins the Gold Medal in hockey (hehe) I'd like to celebrate with the rest of the gang here today and toast the win with a glass of wine....but feel so guilty. Otherwise I'm staying on track really well.
