I recommend that you post this question in today's daily thread for Tuesday August 5th,

You can do a search of the IP forum and probably get lot of posts about it too.

I have not been truly constipated on the program, but I have had a missed couple of days one time. It is a watch item as the higher amounts of protein can bring on constipation, especially for some folks who may be particularly sensitive.

IP recommends some products that can help -- Smooth Moves tea is one. Floralax is another, and something called CALM, I think. If you post your query in the daily thread I am sure you will get more informed responses.

Actually gals, it isn't the higher amounts of protein that cause the Big C... this diet is a normal amount of protein diet - it is not Atkins. And just think how little actual food is going into your system approx. 900 cal.
This is also a lower fat diet which can cause a bit of a stall, no sliding through easily to home plate, heheheh. It can also take a bit of tinkering to balance your calcium supplements which are constipating, with your magnesium which loosens things up.

There are other threads that deal with this though, just do a search ;). I personally had to drop 1 cal mag pill and add a Tbsp of Milk of Magnesia per day a couple times in a particularly bad week.

Hi Ladies!

So Today is my second day on IP, but im using alternative products from Lindora. Its a bit cheaper than the IP products, but has the same nutritional value. I was just wondering if any of you have gone this route, and how the results have been?

canadjineh 08-08-2014 02:07 PM

Hi Shelby.... check the Alternatives thread in the IP Protein 3FC list of posts and you will be able to get more information, also join us on Daily Chat and look at the first post of the day for more awesome links (thanks to Lisa).
Welcome!!

Hi Shelby: When you click on Ideal Protein on the big forum list... you get a list of all the threads that are about Ideal Protein. In this list (near the top right now) is "Alternative Products that will Work On IP Phase 1, Page 4" or something like that - may not be exact words. Check out the very first posting on that page as it often has links for more detailed info, and just scroll down & read the posts &/or add your own...

Hope that helps!
Liana

Thanks for the update and Gee, KUDOS times 1000 for your weightloss. Health is important, I know and sometimes we don't always want to focus on the looks, but omygosh, you are smoking.

I am starting IP on september 7th, getting ready for the countdown.

Kindly, Peggy

Make sure you're using the current P1 sheet (in the stickies at the top of the IP forum). The post you quoted was quite old so I just want to make sure you're current

I feel more secure now...

It's funny how life talks to us sometimes. I figured when I lost weight the last time, which was 30 lbs. Did it in about 5 months on my own by cutting bread, potatoes, rice, etc... after 3 o'clock in the afternoon. It did work, and I exercised and did pretty much what I needed to do. I put them all back on the last 2 winters and now, I started IP on alternative products and feel good also. This is my 5th day now.

The explaination aabout what to do with slip-ups came up yesterday with my sister who is on maintenance for the past 2 months and she shared the the exact same info. It didn't really dawn on me until I read your post and said WOW this is so cool. I know it's a matter of choice and when life happens, we sometimes don't always go for the sensible food choice and heck, I know we have one day where we can eat anything. So that is why it's like a whole new ball game for me. I love this place.

I know I said it before, but I really love this place. Everybody here is in the same boat, so we all get it.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!:jig:

There are minor, inconsequential slip-ups for which you don’t need to make up and major slip-ups for which you will have to make up the next day.

1. Minor Diet Slip-ups:
These usually occur when you’re not eating at home, because it’s hard to avoid fats; however, you can easily avoid carbs, or starchy foods and desserts. Have a first course and a main dish and even a small glass of wine if you like. There will be no consequences, as long as these meals don’t become a habit. Go back to your regular diet the next day.

2. Major Diet Slip-ups:
A major diet slip-up is a big meal with all the fixings. After all, you’re entitled to it, aren’t you? You can make up for a major diet slip-up the next day by avoiding all fast and slow carbs for that ONE DAY ONLY. All you have to do is you go back on the first phase of the diet for one day. Why is that? Because when you eliminate all carbohydrates the day after a big meal, you reduce the amount of insulin secreted and block fat storage. You might still gain up to two pounds the day after you, but don’t panic. You didn’t gain two pounds of fat. Your body is unable to lose two pounds of fat in a day and it can’t gain two pounds of fat in a day either. If two pounds of fat equal 9,000 calories and a woman eats an average of 2,000 calories per day, how could your body possibly store the equivalent of four to five days of meals after just one meal? What do those two pounds of fat represent then? They represent the weight of the big meal plus the water or fluid you had with it and that had not been eliminated by the time you stepped on the weigh scale the next day.

How are you

Hello there, I was wondering how you were doing lisa, I am on the daily accountability/lifestyle change welcome to everyone thread. So I just thought I would come and se how you were. I love it as far as the amount of veggies we have. I used to eat veggies, 2, even salad with my meals, but never like this. I love it.
