WOW! Congratulations! You truly are an inspiration for the rest of us. Seeing you shows us that it CAN be done. What would say was the toughest obstacle and how did you overcome it?

griffogrubb 03-12-2008 01:16 PM

Toughest obstacle....hmmmmm. I'd probably have to say finding out what works for my body and what doesn't. Me with no carbs=badddd...i'm horrible without them, sooooooo tired. I ended up just counting calories, I started at 1200 calories and then kept increasing them as I kept increasing the intensity/frequency of my workouts. Right now I'm eating around 2200 calories a day (I don't keep an EXACT number, but I know about what I'm getting at this point) and working out 90 minutes. Suffice it to say between that and school and work I really don't have much of a social life. But, hey, my body's more important. That being said, I had to find workouts that I like too. I can't workout so much and hate what I'm doing...that would be HORRIBLE. I started walking at first and then really got into running, love it SO MUCH! That and anything where I can kick schtuff, always a good time. I'd say pick a diet that you know you can stick with, know that you can do, and pick an exercise program that you can do for the long haul. Losing weight doesn't have to be all about depriving yourself and hating your life, it is what you make it. If you choose to have fun and be dedicated, it can be a great experience; it can teach you a lot about life. Most people just give up too soon, don't think they have the strength to continue on. But everyone has that strength, that will power, they just don't know it. And yes, at first it sucks, I won't lie. But the longer you keep with it, the easier it gets. I know that may sound like a load of bull, but it's true. And the sooner you decide to lose the weight for yourself, not for another or for this or that reason, you'll work harder, push yourself more-go beyond limits you never knew you had. You just have to keep pushing, even if you stumble and fall, pick yourself back up and keep going. Nobody's perfect, nobody has a perfect body, we all have our moments of weakness. It's nothing to be ashamed of, but it's what happens after those moments that determine who we are, how far we'll go. So, keep going, keep pushing, and you'll get there. It may take some while, but you'll get to your goal one day. Good luck everyone!
