Help with protien.....

How does everyone get their protien in? I am really struggling with my protiens. I never realized how much I hate protien. And to have to eat 20 ounce a day is killing me. In looking back my husband ate all the protien and I ate just a little peice of meat and all the potatoes, corn, green beans etc.

I have done the chicken (ugg the word makes me ill), cooked a turkey (ummm no better), shrimp, peanut butter (low fat), eggs (boiled, scrambled etc. etc.), cottage cheese (can we say wayyyyyy too much in a short time????!!) even nuts.....I can't do shakes or bars cause Im allergic to soy....Anyone have any ideas? Then if I eat it too late in the day it sits in my tummy like a ROCK! and I am up all night.

Try beans for some variety. Also, don't forget that the carb craver options count as a protein--maybe try a few of those. Another thing that might help is to spread your protein out as much as possible; have a little with breakfast, a little with a snack, etc. (If they try to tell you not to split proteins, don't listen.)

One other "protein" that I like is the Veggie Burgers from the LAWL cookbook. They have veggies and rice in them among other things, but they count as 1 protein.

In addition to beans, lentils are a great source of protein. You may be suprised to learn that broccoli and sprouts are protein rich foods as well.

Breakdown of protein-rich plant foods: Lentils have 29% of calories from protein, wheat has 17% of calories as protein, potatoes have 11%, broccoli has a whopping 45% of calories as protein, corn has 15%, ****, even a banana has a gram of protein :)

Good luck finding proteins you can stomach. (it sounds like you might be a vegetarian in the making :) ).

Thanks for all the good ideas. I go to COD today and I will talk to them again about it. They just keep pushing peanut butter and cottage cheese. I have a hard time with beans but will try some of your options. I think I could handle ffbeans in a tortilla with a little white cheese and salsa.

Thanks again...
