Is there some sort of formula for looking at ingrediences and figuring out if something is a fat/starch/protein etc.? Thanks!

Oriana - Do you have a plan book?
I can have 8 oz. of dairy per day, and I have the e-bay version as well as a photocopy of my sister's gold plan. I'm just curious about things we eat off the plan, but I guess I'll just count those the best I can and keep them to a minimum. Thanks!

So it sounds like you are gonna do a modified version of the gold plan? On the Gold plan since a piece of diet bread is like 40 calories - that would be around the calorie count for a starch.......
At the center they don't really go into details about calories or switching planned foods for non plan food. The reason being, if they did that it would be too hard (near impossible) for the counselors to monitor what we are eating and what to count it as. Having a 'list' to go by, makes it easier for them to go by....atleast that's my take on it.
Oriana -- give us an idea of what you're wondering about and then maybe we can help you?
Don't remember if you're doing this on your own or thru a center, but if you are going to a center, they get frustrated if you eat off plan, becuz then they don't know how to help you if things start to slow. Those will be the first things that they point out.
If you're having cravings for something (like pasta) try looking at the frozen dinners (healthy choice, etc) and see if something fits? Or use the restaurant guide. There are also recipies on the website and on our thread that can give you ideas.

I was just trying to figure out how to count stuff if I ever go off the program. For special occasions etc. I didn't know if there was some sort of formula where you could still count the stuff not on the list. I don't think I'm doing a modified gold plan, I'm following the list, and just had a slip! Thanks for the help.
Oriana, eating off the list is tough; I always just try to make the best choices I can make. Do you have the restaurant booklet?
There is no formula like in WW, or anything like flex points. . . It's pretty much the same portions every day.
Julie
I'm so use to WW, I guess I'm trying to read more into the plan. I like the foods on the list so far, but haven't tried the restaurant stuff yet. I look forward to maintenance where we can add more stuff in!
