Goodmorning,
Mrs. Yogi and judi I missed your last couple of posts somehow. It made me laugh this a.m. because I just rented "Best of Show" last night before I read your recommendations. I will look for your friend when I watch it Mrs. Yogi.
Your gardening sounds nice judi. I finally got all my potted plants situated and have planted several packets of seeds this week. Yesterday on the way home I found some flat rocks that I brought home to make a path through my small herb garden. I love cooking with herbs. I found some fat free crumpets at my store this week. It is a new product for me. The have only 60 calories and make a yummy breakfast. |
Hi ladies,
Looks like my resolution to post more often has failed miserably. I've just been busy working. My company just finished construction on a Cable Station in California, so I've been working on several International circuits going to Hawaii and Australia. Still haven't gotten in control of the sugar. It's like an addiction. Any helpful hints would be appreciated. The more I eat, the more I want. Thank goodness I'll be starting the water aerobics class next Monday. I don't know about ya'll, but the worse time for me is in the evening. I think I'm going to start going to the gym when I get off so I won't be tempted to go home and eat. Reading about all your gardens makes me want to start working on my yard. It's definitely warm enough here. I would like to have a few pots of herbs that I can use for cooking. Fresh herbs taste so much better than the dried ones. My cat is doing much better. She has actually woke me up the past few mornings for her breakfast. She hasn't done that in months. She also got a little spunky with a dog that was 10 times her size. My neighbor's fence has a broken board, so his dogs can come into my yard at will. Hopefully, he'll get that fixed this weekend. One of their friend's dog came on my porch the other day. My cat hissed and actually tried to paw the dog. He was all happy and wagging his body. She's pretty brave with her mom standing there and a screen door between them. Hope everyone has a safe Memorial Day weekend, and talk to ya'll later. |
Checking In
Ledom, those trips are sounding more heavenly all the time. Pre-dawn is my favourite time, but I'm usually too lazy to get up to see it!
Judi, yes, it's lovely here. We abandoned Vancouver a few years ago, so we haven't been here that long, but it is definitely a slower sort of place. Very restful. The flowers might suffer if we don't get tons of rain, though. We're on stage 3 watering restrictions, and heading for stage 4 soon perhaps (no watering of anything unless it's recycled water from bath or dishes). I have some pots and tubs on the deck and they are just enough for the leftover dishwater, so my tomatoes will be OK. They seem to really like the phosphates in the dish soap, I've never had such robust plants! Shebacat, have you investigated the low carb options? Sounds like you need to cut sugar out completely for a week or two, then slowly reintroduce the "good carbs". Stress always starts up those cravings though it seems. I'm on a sort of Zone plan and it's really working for me (except for weekend lapses, but what the hey, you gotta have some fun in this life.) Are ya drinkin' any beer lately? I had 2 Heineken on Friday night (hockey) and passed out sound asleep by 10:00. What a party animal I am! I'm getting a head cold. Wah. |
Heineken
Hi ladies!
Mrs. Yogi: I had a Heineken today! I put together some (rickety) shelves in my pantry. A real first for me. The DH does that sort of thing but he is in Ca. I was swearing and sweating so much! I am a klutz when it comes to any real labor. So I figured I deserved a Heineken. I am not a beer drinker (more of a wine drinker) but I like them because they remind me of the times I have been in Europe. That is interesting about the plants and the phosphates...is that possible? It looks like I will lose weight this week (shouldn't say anything or I will jinx it) but the scale is going down...I know I am not supposed to weigh until Wed. How is everyone doing? |
Goodmorning
I had 3 drinks yesterday, a beer, a glass of wine, and a screwdriver spread out over the afternoon. I had a nice holiday but for the sake of the diet, I am glad it is over! It was almost as bad as Christmas in terms of party food, it just wasn't spread out over weeks like it tends to be during the fall and winter holidays. Hope I don't have trouble jumping back on the wagon. I feel pretty determined!
It is supposed to be a rainy week here so I plan on staying home and working in the darkroom. For the moment I have my yardwork in pretty good shape as well as my housework. (That will probably last two minutes!) Shebacat, I think Mrs. Yogi has a good suggestion for getting the sugar cravings under control. My suggestion would be to get rid of anything in your house that is tempting you. Also, is there a certain time of day when you are most vulnerable? If so maybe you can head it off by substituting another kind of treat. Sometimes just breaking the cycle one day can get you back on the right path. |
Good morning everyone!
I hope you all had a good Memorial Day Weekend. It rained here most of it. We did have a good day on Sat. A few weeks ago we had a visit from our resident black bear investigating our bird feeders. Luckily he didn't get to them. He had visited our neighbor's feeders first and destroyed them. We figured he was full and was just scouting our's for future reference. Needless to say, the feeders come inside every night now. Judi~How are your doggies doing? Our puppy, Lacee (pronounced Lacey) is doing fine. It's almost time to take her to the Vets to have her fixed. We have been walking, but mostly I've been carrying her. I see that you like wine. I do too, along with beer. A friend and I have discovered "Pinot Grigio" which is very good. Hello Missthing and welcome! Shebacat~How is your cat? I got a chuckle out of your visitor. Animals are a riot. Ledom~How is the kyaking? I hope that you are enjoying it. Hello Mrs. Yogi! If all goes well there should be a picture of Lacee under my name. I've got my fingers crossed it will work. Take care.
