Wondering if anyone knows how to calculate points that weight watchers uses, without having to buy the special calculator that they offer members?

Welcome grannyl

I read somewhere on one of the Weight Watchers threads on the 3FC's Board the formula for calculating points. I don't remember it and didn't copy it down, wish I had. Maybe that person will come forward and let us all know the formula for calculating the points. Here's are links to the wonderful calculators I use to use.

I copied the following from Dotti's site:
"If you are here searching for Dotti’s Points Calculator, I am sorry, but Weight Watchers ® has forced me to take it down. With all the wonderful employees in the Weight Watchers ® organization, it sometimes is easy to forget that Weight Watchers ® is first and foremost a business. They are concerned that the free calculator that I gave away would perhaps, somehow pull some money from their pockets. Of course, I feel that is ridiculous because Weight Watchers ® does not offer a simple, computer based calculator.
I am a law-abiding citizen and have no desire to infringe upon Weight Watchers ® patent, and therefore, with great sadness, I have removed the calculator from my page. My apologies for this cruel turn of events.
Dotti "

maybe if you e-mail Carl Camera he will give you the formula

I think all those calculators have been shut down or at least they should have been by now.

There is a formula listed in their patent info as:

(calories / 50) + (fat grams / 12) - (fiber grams (capped at 4 with Winning Points) / 5) = points

So do it this way:

120 calories / 5 = 2.40
4 fat grams / 12 = 0.33
2 fiber grams /5 = 0.40

2.4 + .33 = 2.73 - .4 = 2.33 ~ 2.5 or round down to 2
