It depends on the breed mostly.

I agree. I had a Cane Corso. This breed's life expectancy is approximately 8 years. And my dog really lived only for 8 years, though I monitored her nutrition, treated all her allergies with apoquel for dogs, trained her, went for long walks, took her to the vet on time, etc. It was a great dog...
But it has to be noted, that most dogs can live longer with a proper diet and care. I mean, if the life expectancy of the chosen breed is 10-13 years, with a proper approach, your dog will live at least 13 years.

I have found that small breeds live longer than large ones. I always have small dogs. One lived to 19, one to 17, the shortest one was 8 years but he got cancer. Others have lived an average of 14-15 years.
