You want to see a dietitian. I am not trying to offend anyone who is a nutritionist, I am sure there are some who are very helpful and knowledgeable, but dietitians have the degree.
I am around a number of dietitians and you can expect whatever you want. Your first visit will be introductory, you will talk about where you are, and where you want to go, and what you are eating, and what you want to accomplish through diet etc. If you want them to write you a menu they can and will. Dietitians who work with athletes, or sports dietitians might be with you look up. At least someone with in interest in athletes and lifters. Most dietitians I know work in hospitals in a very general capacity. They write diet orders for people who are diabetic, or burn victims, after weight loss surgery, certain medications like blood thinners etc. They don't have the experience with athletes. They can give you advice, for sure, it just might not be their strong point. |
Honestly, its best to become your own dietician. I'm sure if you look hard enough you will be able to find the deficiencies of your diet. (Maybe you need to exercise harder.)

I disagree with healthyfitlife. It's best to seek an expert's advice, preferable one with a degree (RD). My RD has been really helpful in meal planning and strategizing.

i am going to disagree as well. Yes, you do need to educate yourself, but you do that by seeing a dietitian. Also, you can't exercise harder. You don't have to exercise at all really if weight loss is your goal. You can't out train a bad diet.
If she's maintaining, and starts exercising harder, she will probably gain weight, but look better. So maybe yeah, if you aren't weight training, or are only doing cardio, you can start a heavy lifting program and see body composition changes. Just moving different things around yourself, like trying different macros, or go vegetarian for a few weeks, and see if you like the changes in your body. |
