Hi All,

My IF plan is to eat usually only at around 4p-7p. This is has always been a natural way for me to eat as I usually don't get hungry until later in the day. It is only in the last couple of years that I found that there is an actual woe. Of course, as I post this, I just ate a salad because I was hungry a little early today. lol I'm following Weight Watchers right now while being an IF'r and it is working well together = a very natural lifestyle.

My weight loss issue is that I am a stress eater and a carb addict. Both of these things are being helped by the WW plan. Even though I don't usually eat until later in the day, I will revisit the carbs or wine after 10p. So, with an eating window I also have an over-eating window that I need to board up. :)

Welcome Archychick,

well I've not really settled into a set fasting time yet, but by just trying I've started losing. Most likely water weight, but that's good too.

Wannabehealthy - Now that you mentioned that about Type 1 vs. Type 2 I am quite certain you're correct! If you're interested, I can add you to the Facebook group. It's mostly a bunch of annoying chatter from people who don't understand the diet and pictures of meal ideas, but if you wanted to get info from someone with diabetes on 5:2, it would be a good place to connect.

Speaking of 5:2, I'm giving it a go this week instead of 4:3. My weight has been pretty stagnant lately and I'm just getting really sick of trying to fit in 3 fast days each week. The whole reason I switched to 4:3 back in December was because I wasn't losing, but now I'm not really losing again and I'm burning myself out. If I can maintain on 5:2 for right now I'd be happy enough I guess, until I figure out my next move.

I've been working out a lot more with the C25K training and cross training and strength so it definitely wouldn't hurt to eat a bit more for a while and give myself a rest...

Thanks Noname. Although I am on Facebook I am not very active on it right now. If I decide I want to join in sometime in the future I will let you know. As I was reading Thefastdiet.co.uk I clicked on a few other things and found this article someone posted. It might be of interest to someone else who is Type 2 as it says IF is not only safe, but recommended.

I am ready to start this. On Sunday I did an all vegetable day to try it out and it went well. I came in around 700 calories, but feel I can easily do 500 since I love vegetables so much and I am down a pound as a result.

Here's a link to something I found regarding TheFastBeach diet, which is similar to the FastDiet. It mentions the 4:3 you were doing.

^ Great! So glad you're finding good info. IMO along with your veggies, some lean protein will help keep you full on a fast day (I usually have chicken or fish). I also tend to eat only one meal (dinner), but some people have three small meals throughout the day. You'll figure out what works for you!

You'll probably see some other great side effects of fasting, not just weight loss. Lower blood pressure, no heartburn, and cured IBS are pretty common :) Can't wait to hear your progress!

Hi All...

Today am starting the 5:2 plan...I hate tracking calories...etc..and this will help me I hope. I am struggling so much and need something simple. Non fast day starts now till Sun/Mon is my 500 fast days. Wish me luck!!!

Wannabehealthy 03-10-2015 10:51 AM

Liliann are you going to do back to back fast days? I don't know if I could do that. I don't think I am going to have scheduled fast days, but they will be between Monday and Thursdays because we eat out a lot on weekends.

Liliann 03-10-2015 11:02 AM

I do not know ...am learning on this...5 days am eating normal..and Sun/Mon 500 calories..of eating veggies...got plenty of veggies.

I will weigh in on Tuesday..

For those who doing 5:2 plan...When do you weigh in? Daily or weekly? I am a scale nut and going to do my best to weigh in weekly with this method. I sure hope this works....I am back up at 400 Lbs and want to be 370s by summer time..hope its a doable goal effort...

Will check in later...Good luck all..

Wishing you great Success Liliann!

Liliann Best of luck to you! Keep us posted! You may find it easier to stick to if you don't do back-to-back fasts at the beginning but it works for some people.

Today is a fast day and my tummy is sooo grumbly :( I usually don't have a problem but it won't shut up today! I am guzzling water and tea left and right. It wouldn't be a problem except that I have an office mate now. Thankfully she just left and hopefully won't be back until the grumbling stops lol

I hear it over here noname! LoL

I'm finally back down to 180. So great to be feeling good and losing. I'm trying the Ketogenic plan with the fasting. Not as hard as you would think. It is full of good fats that keep you happy.

Wannabehealthy 03-12-2015 06:32 AM

So far I am not having any grumbling, Noname. I space my calories out rather than saving them up for one meal. I am finding that doing a regular day after a 500 cal day is not what I expected. I thought I would be famished and undo what the 500 cal day did, but instead, I'm eating less than normal. I think after a 500 cal day, a normal days feels like a feast! Today will be my second 500 cal day. I am down another lb this morning. I have lost a total of 6 lbs in the past 4 weeks, but the first 4 were a whoosh I got when I switched back to lower carb. These were all lbs I had put on over the holidays.

FinallyFree, I can't do ketogenic. I tried, but I just don't like all the fat. I avoid starchy carbs. I don't do low fat, but I also don't add extra fat. I guess I'm middle of the road. I know it works for a lot of people and it seems to be working for you. Good luck with it!

Hi everyone! :-)

I just started doing alternate day fasting/ dieting yesterday and I have to say that I really feel good about it! I didn't count calories but I know that it must have come in well below 500, today I am eating when hungry and (because I realised I won't die I don't!) I haven't really eaten all that much. :-)

So hi, I'm here to learn more! (also new to the forum!)

Liliann 03-12-2015 10:51 AM

Hiya all....

Welcome newbies!!

Well, my eating normal this week was not going right...So...as today...am being very strict on doing a very low calorie.... 500... Yep... I had diet coke and a fiber plus bar this morning and now drinking black coffee..for lunch will have 1/2 c beans..and I think and knowing this will help me...I have no choice to do other things..so 500 calorie goal method is my main focus!!!

I already down a Lb....I think I will be okay. My doctor had mentioned once on doing 900...but am doing less than that..

Hoping everyone will have a good day...Later chicklets!! :)
