Good morning ladies.

Well I had a crazy weekend. Spent all of my eating window on Saturday in the ER with my husband, so I just ate a bowl of cereal when I got home. Of course lost almost 2 lbs that day and today its back on. Was hoping it'd stick, but knew it was too good to be true. Oh well. And the hubby is fine now, so no worries there.

Berry - I too am glad in a way that it's Monday. It's so much easier to stay on plan during the week. Except I'm incredibly sleepy.

Hi to the newbies. I would like to address everyone's comments, but the aforementioned sleepiness makes that nearly impossible.

Have a great day all!

Good Morning Everyone!
Welcome just keep swimming! Glad you are going to try IF- seems like it will be a good fit for you.
I did pretty well over the weekend until yesterday evening
Glad to be back to fasting today, but NOT glad it's Monday. I am sluggish beyond belief. Maybe will be ok after another couple cups of coffee?

wvuchick--That's not a fun way to spend a Saturday! I'm glad to hear he's okay. Hopefully you can catch up on some sleep!

I had my 5-hr window a little late on Saturday but did okay I guess. I don't feel like I'm always eating as healthy as I can. I don't eat junk, but I'm not good at making sure I'm getting enough protein, all my vitamins, etc. I need to remember my multi! Yesterday I did more like a 16/8 day, and we grilled burgers and shrimp in the evening--yum! The 1800 or so calories I had for the day were so worth it!! I'm back to Fast 5 today.

I have pretty much maintained my weight the past few days, and TTOM is likely to begin tomorrow, so hopefully some of this is water weight. I'm also having major PMS--grrrrr! I wonder if fasting is making that worse, because I just feel really irritated today. Or maybe it's just Monday.

Yeah he's fine. They think it was maybe a virus or something but couldn't really find anything. Thanks for asking.

Can't help with whether fasting makes PMS worse. My BCPs make it so I don't have TTOM.

Lightenup, it may be a mixture of Monday and TTOM, everyone in the office I work with all seem to be in a glum mood today, the rainy weather here may be adding to the misery of Monday.

Wvuchick, the ER wait can be very draining, I hope your husband is doing well today.

I did do fast 5 over the weekend but the amount of calories I consumed in those 5 hours were ridiculous. I really need to get a handle on weekend eating. Today is also my first fast day for the week. I also agree with Berry that I am glad to be back on plan today, not that it's Monday tho.

I hope everyone has a good week!

Note to self: no cooking up bacon when your eating window is approaching, as there might not be enough bacon left for the recipe...

Okay, so I had some bacon today. Yum. In my defense, it was the uncured/no nitrites bacon from Trader Joe's...that makes it better, right??

Question: How much protein do you aim for per day (if you even track it at all), and if it's a lot (which to me is 80-100g), how do you do that with only 1400 or so calories? I guess we as a family don't eat a LOT of meat, but we do eat it. I feel much fuller when I eat protein, so when my window opens I tend to snack on high-protein foods like boiled eggs, thinly sliced turkey, greek yogurt, nuts, etc. But then I feel like I'm missing out on other things. I guess I can add in more fruit and raw veggies, since that's not a ton of calories. I'm not tracking my protein intake, but with this lower calorie intake, I wonder how much protein I should (and can!) take in.

Thanks!

lightenup- On fast days, I tend to just eat a piece of salmon or chicken, and some fruit like raspberries. (aside from half and half w/ coffee in the am)
Protein works best to keep me fuller on fast days. My sig. other eats a huge spinach salad with some salmon on it.

Lighten up, I don't track my protein but I do know it makes me feel fuller longer. However, I'm also realizing fiber does the same for me. Maybe try upping your high fiber fruits and veggies and see how that goes?

I didn't count my calories for dinner tonight (fast day) and I have a feeling it was a bit over but oh well. Its so hot and I was so hungry I couldn't be bothered!

I eat about 1200 calories and about 60-70 are protein grams. It varies wildly from day to day, but this is average. I typically have more fat than protein, but it's from avocados, peanut butter and other nuts and half and half in my coffee in the morning. My fitness health tracker goes nuts with my lower carb, high fat which includes some saturated fats diet. I ignore it. Until I see my blood work go south, I'm eating the way it makes it possible for me to eat long term. I like fats! I'm not so big on proteins (meats or eggs). I also eat a ton of veggies, but it's the fats that keep me full.

I look forward to Monday because it seems easier to stay on plan than on the weekend. We are at church all day long on Sunday and eating on plan is much harder. Sunday night we did not get home till 10! and I hadn't really eaten well at all so I ate yogurt and some strawberries. I went back to my noon - 8 window yesterday though- figured it is better than giving up.

I track protein, but never come close to my 70 g goal. It doesn't seem to bother me as far as helping me fast the next day. I would love to have more but I too find it hard at the number of calories I eat each day.

lotsakids - Nothing wrong with a 12-8 eating window. A lot of people do that.

I was down almost a pound this morning and I'm having a skinny day so I'm happy about that.

Have a great day everyone.

Hi everyone,

Today I worked alongside a coworker all day (I work from home 3 days/week, and at a hospital the other two days). The room was awfully quiet sometimes, and I was sure she could hear my stomach growling after "lunchtime". If she noticed that I didn't eat lunch, she didn't say anything. I'm wondering what to tell her next time if the topic comes up? She used to be a nurse, and I wonder if she'll give me the usual "6 small meals/day" lecture. Or just think I'm out of my mind ;-) I can see where people not used to the idea might think "she's starving herself!" or something like that. I don't know, maybe I'm overthinking it (that HAS been known to happen before!). On the other hand, she mentioned that she really wants to lose weight, so I'm tempted to tell her about my new WOE. But I read somewhere, "Don't tell people you're fasting" because of all the negative responses. Ugh... Oh well, I'm still loving it!!

I tell people and I don't really care what they thing about it.

I always get the usual, I thought that wasn't good for you. I always say there's actual real science behind IF and it is actually really good for you. And I offer to send them information if they balk or are interested in trying it. Usually though they just said I couldn't do that, and that they have to eat breakfast. I just tell them I used to think that too.
