SO, I figure if I'm going to do this, I need to either go big or go home. So here's my leap of faith, scared to death, but talking to complete strangers about something I have been in denial about for entirely too long. I suppose the big wake-up call was when I went in for my post-partum appointment after having my first child and my doctor said that as a result of the postpartum cardiomyopathy that developed with my pregnancy, if I didn't lose a drastic amount of weight and make a fairly radical lifestyle change, any more children were out of the question for me... and they may be regardless of a weight change if my heart doesn't improve. So here I am, starting day 1 of my IF. Wish me luck. :) |
6 weeks in and I agree the hunger pains are not really there on my two fasting days but feeding the kids meals and snacks, especially toward the evening, is tough. .6 pound away from seeing the 180s is amazing progress though-nearly 17 pounds in 6 weeks.

So far, I started my tom and no crazy urge for chocolate. Omg. This IF thing may be genius

Hello!
I joined this site specifically to say how thrilled I am with intermittent fasting. I've only been trying it out for a week or two, but it has rocked my world! I'm not doing a specific plan, I've just whittled my eating down to one meal a day. Before I tried the 'eating 3 meals a day plus snacks' and I never felt full and I would always have cravings for sugary snack. Now I don't have cravings at all! It actually feels weird to be so unconcerned with food and sugar. Having that one time if day where I eat makes it so easy to turn things down, because I know it isn't meal time yet. I haven't experienced that much hunger, and when I do it is the kind of hunger that makes me more focused and driven, rather than the sluggish, irritable hunger. I have so much more energy eating this way! I used to have to nap all the time, and now I am getting much less sleep in the night and feeling more energized. It might be too early to say as well, but I feel my anxiety and depression have been significantly reduced as well. Not to mention, I used to hate all the time that went into grocery shopping and food preparation. Now I come home from work, enjoy my meal preparation and because I feel so full afterwards, I take a post-prandial waddle around my neighbourhood. It's become very ritualized, and I really like that. However, there might be a downside. My gastritis has been acting up a bit, and I'm not sure if it is because of the new way I am eating, the foods I am eating or whatever. Is anyone else trying IF while having gastritis? |
Congrats to everyone on the successes! So good to hear about.
@autumnbreeze I have IBS. Not sure if that is what you mean. My IBS and acid reflux actually improved with IF. It is different for everyone though I would think. I'd give it a few weeks. Sometimes it just takes a little time for your body to make the adjustment. |
I started IF almost 2 weeks ago. 16/8. I love it. I can tell a difference already & my clothes are fitting better. More info to follow as I continue on this path!

Hm
I've recently started working with a PT and while I do love how he takes me through work outs and helps me with my form I don't really agree with his views on nutrition. Now he looks great so it works for him, but everything can't be cookie cutter in order to get the body you want.
I told him I was doing IE and he seemed weary and was one of those "starvation mode" promoters and told me if I go without eating my body will nom my muscles. I don't believe that at all. I'm very comfortable in my eating window -if I stay in it-. I broke my window because I didn't want to feel faint during our session today and I had a bowl of oatmeal, 1/2 cup. To which he was shocked at how many carbs I had because I guess 1/2 cup expands to 1 cup which is like a ton of carbs? Idk I was just following the serving size. I'm trying to avoid all that crud, It's very triggering for me. I just want to eat what I want, in my window. Also proved breakfast doesn't do me any good. I was craving and hungry so much worse then I had been in a while. I ate out of my window as well, I think my basic meals aren't sustaining me enough because I was really unsatisfied and out of it today, so I ate a lot more then I usually did and I feel better. I have trouble eating out of my window. I am a night snacker for sure. My main diet is cottage cheese, eggs, yogurt, fruit, protein bars/drinks, I don't think I'm eating enough for everything I do at work and at the gym. I'm going to try and push my eating window further, usually it's supposed to be 11-7, but I find myself snacking occasionally past 7. So maybe if I ate later if I'm not hungry around 11. I work 1-8 anyway. I want to lose weight and I have already lost .5 inch off everything and 2 inches off my tummy. :carrot: But with discovering IE I found my abusive behaviors with food are getting buried for good. So I am not going to ditch it. |
