Veggie Help!!!!

I was wondering I eat a huge salad daily and am getting tired of them. I would rather just eat steamed veggies or baked veggies.

Would someone give me some ideas on veggie eating not in a salad.

Thanks

Here's a bunch of ideas (calorie counts vary!) :
Also, if you want to go to to http://www.allrecipes.com they have thousands of recipes (both healthy and not-so-much) for veggies.

cucumber slices (I prefer peeled) with a dash of salt
tuna "salad" with chopped carrots and pickle mixed in (skip the mayo if you like)
carrots and celery with hummus to dip
fried rice with a bag of mixed veggies thrown in
baked acorn squash (if you add a bit of butter and cinnamon, it takes like a sweet potato)
baby carrots boiled til soft in a can or two of French Onion soup and then drained
Steamed asparagus omelette
spinach stuffed ravioli

I didn't know if you just wanted plain veggies, or veggies in an actual recipe, so I did both.

Some Allrecipes.com Recipes:
"Creamy Carrot Soup" (carrots and potato and onion) by CATIE
"Corrigan's Minestrone" (potato, carrots, celery, onion) by CORRIGAN GOMMENGINGER
"Chunky Vegetarian Vegetable Soup" (onion, celery, carrot, potato, corn, edamame, okra, kale) by jbr319
"Christian's Crazy Sherpa Potatoes" (potato, peas, broccoli, carrot, zucchini, green bell pepper) by Barb
"Baked Vegetables I" (potato, carrots, broccoli, zucchini) by Klara Yudovich
"African Sweet Potato and Peanut Soup" (onion, tomato, sweet potato, carrot) by GregMcE

Great...now I'm hungry!
Hope I was able to give you some usable ideas!

Wouldn't eat some of those veggies to lose weight

Hi! A lot of the foods mentioned in your earlier reply are not on the allowed list. So make sure you skip those. And certainly stay away from rice, potatoes, carrots, hummus, etc. NOT what you want to eat if you wish to lose weight. Here are a couple of ideas I found extremely enjoyable and all are on the allowed list:

Stir fry cut up green bell peppers and portabella mushrooms in a tea spoon of olive oil and once cooked, scramble in two eggs. I am a vegetarian (though ironically enough not big on vegetables) so that was my dinner yesterday and I loved it. I just used a non stick skillet and a few minutes later all you have to do is season with salt (and pepper if you like) to taste.

Another idea is zucchini and cauliflower in the microwave for maybe 2 minutes and season with garlic salt, paprika (or any other spices you prefer) and some salt and paper. I was amazed at how good these were. I am actually beginning to like vegetables on this diet.

I have lost 9 pounds in 12 days, so far.

If I could figure out how to make my counter show I would have it here. But all I get when I paste it is the address, not the image...

Tuli,

Since canadacatman didn't specify a specific plan to abide by, and this is the general diet plans section, I just threw ideas out there. I count calories, eat those foods all the time, and have lost almost 25 pounds, through diet alone, so they can't be that bad! ;)

Allowed and disallowed vegetables

Got it! My mistake, sorry. Still getting used to the site. Was assuming this was all about Ideal Protein Diet - which is what I swear by. Thanks for clarifying. And well done on losing 25 pounds!

No problem on the mix-up! Good luck with your program! I've heard a lot of good things about it, and there's a very active IP group here. :)

Canadacatman, thanks for asking, because I am looking for some variety, too. And penmage, whew, such great answers! I appreciate you sharing your experience, and tastes.

Sorry I did not mention I am not on a plan. Just a basic eating healthier weight loss plan. Again sorry about that..

One of my favourite things is frittatas actually, but I end up with it more like 'these are roast veggies with a very small amount of eggy/milk mix sticking it together baked in the oven'. The great thing is that they can really get as many or as different as you want each time.
Course it also ups your protein intake and a lot of people don't seem to like eating eggs, but I've always found a slice with butter-nut pumpkin/butter-nut squash, a whole-lot of spinach, peas, thiny sliced scallions and (my personal favourite) brocolini (the long, thin stalked kind and just sliced into halves or quarters) has been a great way to upp my veggie intake while keeping me full.

I agree! Those veggies mentioned are very healthful; no need to give them up. I eat them all the time too and have lost 67 pounds. :)

Veggies are also good spritzed with a bit of olive oil (I like the lemon flavored) and baked. Also good on George Foreman grill.. I love carrots and red bell peppers done this way.
