:D :D
Great to hear jacklyn! My dh has been losing a little weight as well...he has been walking with me a coupe days a week...and even though he STILL eats terribly-cheesburgers and fries and sodas-he HAS been cutting back his portions-and has dropped about 10 pounds in the past few months. I have gotten him to eat watermelon and corn on the cob, and a few other produce items more frequenty-so if he is making baby steps to be a little healthier-then I am satisfied with that. :D I am glad that your husband is excited about BFL with you-it makes it so much easier when you can plan your meals and workouts together as a couple. Tell him I'm proud of BOTH of you! Aphil |
Thanks for the boost everyone. Jacklyn? Enjoy that husband. Good ones are a treat ;)
I actually have a rather nebulous thought about the little jeans. I love before and afters, so I went to a commercial weight loss site to see some. One short gal spoke about being a big 14 and thinking that a well fitted 12 would feel better. She's become a gorgeous size 2. I had convinced myself that I was a sturdy Flemish woman. Medium framed and destined by genetics to be "round". I suppose it's part of the "disease process", denial, apathy, lethargic acceptance. If we've been overweight or out-of-shape for a long time, we really don't know how things will turn out. If we'd known at the time what a marvelous adventure and journey of discovery it was going to be ... maybe it would have been easier to start. On a more practical note ... I found some Golean cereal. Yummy. I ate it dry on night shift last night. |
I eat it dry too...in a little Ziploc bag like my kids.

Hi Everyone.
I haven't posted in awhile. I am still hanging in there. Counting calories and fat grams on fitday.com. I am having a problem with weekends. I allow myself Saturdays to eat whatever I want and it seems to be "spilling over" to Friday's and Sunday's. I am counting fat and calories on those days but am consistently going over. I need to work on that. I am NOT going to do it this weekend. Usually if tell someone it helps me stick to my decision. I had to laugh when SusanB, (I think), mentioned something about running from mountian lions and how many calories were burned. That sounds like me. I am looking for a cleaning job to make some extra money and like the thought that I will burn some extra calories. |

Hello everyone!!

Susan, you threw me a curve on the name change but good deal! and congrats n the levis 28's! jacklyn, you are smokin!!! over 6" gone!!!! way to go! hi debbie, good to hear from you!I guarantee, if you take a second job you will be too darn tired to eat, girl! lol, speaking from experience from the past few weeks hello to everyone else! I hope to be able to attach a pic here from a few weeks ago, riding through the Lincoln Gap. Lots of curves, switchbacks, through beautiful Green Mountains of Vermont...a biker's dream ride |
Debbie-It was me running from the mountain lion.
I ran all over yesterday. Had to take the kids for new shoes, get Jasmine's school physical done, go to the drugstore, get some sewing done for costumes-visit my mother-you name it I was there. :D I did find Raiden's Pugsley Addams shirt yesterday. It was a black and white long sleeved top in the girls department-I need to cut the sleeves and hem them so they are t-shirt length for it to work. I did stay on plan and get in my exercise though. Debbie-I know what you mean about going off plan for one day-and it actually taking a day or two for things to get back to normal. I have done that before too. :( I am glad you came here to talk about it. Sometimes it does help-to talk about it and be accountable for that-rather than keeping it in and hiding it. My tough times are weekends as well-especially if we are all running around and my eating is off schedule a bit. I have stayed the same weight wise for the last 2 weeks..I am hoping to see another change soon. My monthly measurements are taken around the 20-25th of the month-so I'll report my "size" changes then. Hoping to see something there. :D Holly-great picture on the bike! You can tell you really enjoy it! Off to exercise! Aphil |
Hey all!! Im back. My grandfather is doing better still in the hospital but doing better thanks for all the well wishes and prayers they are greatly appreciated :) I have been on hold for over a week so nothing new to post about weight loss or anything but plan to get back to it this week as well as with my exercises. Ill try not to be a stranger either now that im not at the hospital as often that shouldnt be a problem.
Im glad to see everyone doing so well. Talk with you all soon. Brittnye |
Hello everyone, b-boo, so glad your granddad is doing better.
sigh, I'm envious of those who have dh's who are at least trying...my guy is so angry over his work (hates it) and he comes home, it's like an eating contest. I don't know what to do. the least that is done is when he consents to a walk with me. He always compliments me on my diligence with exercising...and I'm sure he appreciates he gets the benefits of me being in shape...just wish he would start :( I don't want to be a young widow :( 'k, enough of my complaining. Hope everyone is doing well! |
I bought an ab-roller today. 10 bucks! What fun. Wish me flatness.

Hey everyone!
Jasmine had her open house for kindergarten last night. We had to see her classroom and meet her teacher and pay book fees and all of that. She starts Tuesday. :( I'll be okay... Good news-I tested my body fat percentage for the month-it is down another 2% to 31%. In May it was 34%...so I have been losing about 1% a month. Woo-hoo! That is great news that even when the scale doesn't budge-that the fat percentage and the measurements DO! :D I have been averaging about 1 hour-1 hour 15 minutes of exercise each day. Which is a lot more than I was doing a year ago-I was averaging about 45 minutes a day back then. It just seems to slowly keep creeping up a little-without me even trying for it. It's a good thing though. I have more costume work to do today-lots to get done over this month. Oh-some more great news. I had my first rehearsal Tuesday night for the troupe piece that we are doing for the Best Of The Midwest show next month-and I have a solo part! There are a couple of us that get to come "away from the group" in the dance and do a little solo...and I am the first one to do it! Actually-in the beginning they all come out on stage into their places and positions-and I actually stay backstage for the first few seconds of the song. At a certain point-I get to dance out onstage in front with my sword-come out doing my solo! I was so excited when I found out-then when my solo is over-my instructor comes out and does hers. :hyper: Today is dancing and cardio day for me...and I am feeling pretty good and in control. I love it when I actually feel this way-instead of the days I feel like wrapping the refrigerator in locks and chains to stay out of it. Aphil |
Aphil? How do you measure body fat?
|
There are different ways to do it...caliper tests...body fat scales (must be done barefoot)...different ways. The only thing is-each way you do it may get you a slightly different result-just like using your own scale, then the doctors, then your sisters-so to test your progress go by the same one all the time.

Hi Everyone
VermontMom I know what your dh is going through. I am seeing more and more these days that food automatically goes straight to my mount if I am stressed. The last job that I had. I stayed there for 14 years. It was very stressful, (I liked the people that I worked with), and it kept getting worse and worse. Just when I thought it could not get any worse someone starts ,(to put it mildly), defecating in the building. My boss there was as dumb as a rock and did not like me, (because I would not take any bs from him), decided to "investigate" the matter and started asking everyone, "Where were you this weekend, and what were you doing?" He even asked an elderlady who had worked there for 28 years. When he got to me I was so offended after having worked there for so many years with no reprimands I gave him a 3 day notice, which left him in a mess,(I was overseeing a mail crew that mailed 1 Million pieces of mail per week). What is even better, they hired a man to replace me a couple of months earlier,(I did not know at the time that they hired him to replace me), and made me train him for my job,( for my back up-they said). He got my job when I left and they now think he's the one defecating in the building, (it has happend 5 times, 3 since I left) Paybacks are ****.

That is just too good of a story...hiring someone to replace you behind your back...and he is some sicko. Oh...I tell you. When I used to work in the hair/tanning salon-someone actually (once again, to put it mildy) urinated in one of the trash cans in one of the tanning rooms-obviously meant for putting your empty lotion bottles, tanning stickers, kleenex, etc. I found it after closing when I was emptying all the trash cans in the salon-and since 10-15 people had been in that bed that day-I had no idea who did it. I thought to myself-you are only in there 25 minutes! (20 in the bed plus time to dress/undress) If you had to go that bad-then you had to go when you walked in there...and you passed a bathroom on the way to your tanning room! People can be so sick. I am a stress eater as well-when I get stressed I really have to watch out. I tend to binge eat if I don't keep control, and I get massive headaches from it as well. That is when I try to walk outdoors, or do yoga, or something soothing to relax myself instead of going to the kitchen. |
Hello pals!!
debbie, OMG about your story...and I love the final line, paybacks ARE ****, aren't they! and poor aphil, having to empty wastebasket of urine, bleh!!! I have today OFF! my first Saturday off in .....months! since early May. and it has actually stopped raining, and the sun is shining!!!!! haven't seen the sun since...tuesday???> don't remember. anyway, just finished doing Gilads Step and Tone, that used to be my video of first choice, then I realized I had to put some variety into my workouts - but since I haven't done it in weeks, I was dripping sweat and breathing hard, and and the end of each set, was like "WHOA!! I can't do another!!" which is exactly what I needed I am FINALLY seeing the benefits of all my working hours (it's about 46-48 per week) in the form of the bank account letting me breathe a little easier. Just in time to pay property taxes next month, and find out (groan) what the car needs to pass inpsection. One thing it does need is new exhaust system, there's a hole that makes me sound like a kid that driving a low-rider I wouldn't mind if my bike was that loud, but it's embarassing to drive a Ford Escort that sounds like that  I hope no one is having bad effects from the hurricanes and tropical storms; like I said, we've just had a rainy week anyway, then more rain except for today;then more rain in forecast for tomorrow (I work all day/evening tomorrow anyway) so I'm gonna boogie and do a little more housework, then decide where to ride today!!!! hugs to everyone and laughing at the image of the fridge wrapped in chains and padlocks :D __________________ Holly |
