Veggies and fruit
I am on high blood pressure pills and am trying to get off them eating right.
I upped my veggie and fruits to 4 cups of veggies and 2 cups of berries.fruit daily. Is that enough to eat daily, should it be more veggies less fruit or less veggies more fruit. Also I read that beets are really good to lower high bp can these be eaten everyday. It also said that if you eat a lot daily it will turn your urine and stool red. Thanks |
I would say more veggies and less fruit. Fruit has more sugar and you want to be eating green veggies as they are better for you. Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Zuchinni, Cucumber, Celery...etc Limit the starchy ones like potatoes, sweet potatoes....etc If you want low carb veggies a rule of thumb is stay away from anything beginning with P
Regarding the beets, some peoples urine can go pink. Beets aren't something you should be having lots of either as they could have a laxative effect. |
Ok thanks for the advice..

I would agree, more veggies. Try adding an apple a day - I do think it keeps the doctor away : )

So you eat more then 4 cups of veggies a day. That is a lot.
Thanks |
Not necessarily more veggies a day, just more veggies than fruit. You can pretty much have as many veggies you want if they are the green kind. If your going to have others, limit them or just have occasionally.
