Does exercise hinder weight loss?

Hey all,

I started the sb diet about 10 days ago (though didn't hold up too well this week-end) and I noticed the numbers were really dropping. I added in the 30 day shred a few days ago and have sort of been at the same weight since. My muscles are sore, so it's definately doing somthing to get me stronger and back in shape, but i'm also curious, if I am doing this work out should I be expecting to lose weight a little slower due to building some muscle? Or do the two go hand in hand and I should be expecting to really lose weight if i'm dieting and exercising?

Exercise creates a calorie deficit, so as long as you are not eating back those calories, exercise should aid in weight loss. Temporarily, you may see a stall because after a tough workout, our bodies can hold onto water. It takes a long time to build muscle, so I doubt that's the reasons you're stalling. If you overate on the weekend, that may be the reason you don't see a loss. SB is low carb, esp. in the beginning, so you lose a lot of water weight. If you go off SB and eat carbs, you'll probably gain back some of that lost water weight.

Exercise is important to overall fitness goals. Sometimes people try to lose more weight because their bodies do not look the way they had hoped at a certain weight. When really its a fitness issue and a need to build and tone muscle. Exercise will aid weight loss, there are many reasons for a stall. Be sure to drink your water and stick to your plan. :)
