kale chips?

So i found a huge bag of kale on clearance and thought id try kale chips. I was wondering if olive oil cooking spray could be substituted for 2tbs of oil? I have such a large bag of kale that i would like to see if anyone had any unique recipes for it.

I tried making kale chips after reading so many people touting it on various sites. I can't remember exactly what I used, but it was either olive oil cooking spray or just a bit of oil (e.g., a tsp) along w/ cooking spray.

To be honest, though, I was really disappointed in the taste. They weren't nearly as good as I had expected based on others' rave reviews. I never made them again. But since you already have the Kale, go ahead and give it a shot. Obviously, I'm in the minority in not liking them.

Either olive oil spray or bottle olive oil works. I love a good quality olive oil, some fresh cracked salt and pepper - mmm! The first time I made them it was a party and they went so fast!

I <3 Kale chips. If you have a dehydrator, definitely use that....otherwise the oven works too.

I always use olive oil spray, salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika. Bake at 425 on a wire rack (so air can circulate all around them) for about 10 minutes. I season the same for a dehydrator and dehydrate for about 90 minutes.

i did them by rubbing the leaves all over with oil then sprinkling with salt, pepper, and ground chili seeds (i put all three in a mortar and grind the living daylights out of them so it's more a pinkish dust than anything) - i think it was olive oil but it doesn't really matter. i put them on a parchment-lined baking sheet and baked at 425 for about 15min, checked them, then left another 5min if necessary.

they were SO good.

i tried them and honestly im not a fan... i used the olive oil and sea salt and baked for 20 minutes at 350. Some of them were crunchy and others just wilted.. Not sure what i did wrong. The taste was almost meaty if that makes sense.

your temperature was too low. it also helps to cut the thick bits out.

Yes, I first heard of kale when I read that you can pass it off as meat to get kids to eat it!

agree with above, your temp was waaaaay too low. Have to do 425 for 10-15 minutes
