*raises hand*

I'm starting intermittent fasting as of today. I'm happy to read that it's worked for you before.

How many days in a row do you fast? How many days on and how many days off? Do you drink water during your fast? Also, do you exercise on the days you fast. Sorry so many questions, just curious.

I'm just starting out but I plan on fasting for no more than 24 hours, 2 times a week. I only drank water during my fast but I have read that you're able to drink coffee, green tea and diet soda if you so choose. I walked/jogged on the treadmill for an hour today and felt fine. I plan on incorporating more strength training to my regimen and not do just cardio.

Where are you, Sophie? Lol.

I just finished my second fast for the week and did just fine, again. I've finally broken through my weight plateau (couldn't get underneath 195 for weeks) and am now 192.4. When I first began ESE, which was this Tuesday, I was 198.8. I'm hoping I can get into the 180's by Christmas and reach my first goal.

Hi! I started IF this week. I tried it before and was successful, but this time I'm in it for a lifestyle change. I started a blog on it this week too, to help me with my accountability. I've lost just under 4 lbs this week. I have a total of 50 to lose, so 46 more to go.
I find IF easier than counting, etc. So. I'd love a group to chat with about it.
Thanks. Italiannie

Oh yeah, My blog is on 3FC.
It's called Celebrate Life.
Check it out, if you want. I'm combining Eat Stop Eat and Fast-5.
I know there's a way to link it, but I don't know how to do that.
Well, it's great to be here.

Hope you all want to continue with this IF support group. It seems quiet. Anyways, I'm rounding out the week with my Fast-5, and it's been fairly easy. I will be doing Eat-Stop-Eat this coming week (using the fasting days as bookends to the holiday).
Next week, I will try to decide which plan works best for me.

My initial thought was that ESE would be best form my lifestyle, but thought I'd give Fast-5 a try too.

I did work out the link, so you can check my blog if you're at all interested in more details.

I'll report my weight loss this week on Tuesday, as that will be a complete week. so.....

I'd love to hear from others on your progress.

I did make a short term goal to get under 190 by the New Year.

lm3898 - Good for you! It's worth a try. I'm enjoying it so far. I'm several days into ESE. Looking to see how it stacks up against Fast 5. I'll be fasting from 5pm Friday until 5pm Saturday (Christmas Eve) and then again on Monday. Just experimenting. I do enjoy the personal challenge.

Well, I was able to meet my goal by Christmas. As of today, I weigh 189.4 pounds. ESE is working for me, yay!

Saphhiregirl, Good for you. I fasted Fri to Sat night, ate well on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and am fasting again until Dinner tonight. So tomorrow we'll see how I fared for the holiday weekend. I did find that even when sitting around the table with family and friends I was much less apt to just mindlessly graze on food that was in front of me (Not saying I didn't do some holiday feasting). I do think that the fasting days help you to eat less on the eating days.

I'm going to continue on with Eat Stop Eat this week and then perhapst try Fast-5 again next week. We'll see.

I'm joining a couple of 3FC Challenges. I want to be under 190 by New Years and 179 by Valentine's Day.

Hang in there!

Jared767 - I feel great when I'm in the fasting mode. I definitely do not feel like I'm depriving myself, as I eat what I want, just not all the time. This is the least deprived I've ever felt while losing weight. I also find I am not thinking about food all of the time. I've lost over 5 lbs in the last couple of weeks, and that's with Christmas meals and desserts.

There is definitely an adjustment period. Mine wasn't so bad, because I never eat during the early part of the day, so I just have a couple of hours in the late afternoon that are challenging, and that is becoming less and less of a problem.

Are you doing ESE or Fast 5? I'm playing with a couple of different programs to see which one will work best for me in the long run.

You may need to play with your eating window. Are you drinking plenty of non calorie drinks? I find this helps a great deal too.

I have found that when I break my fast, if I have a couple of pieces of fruit right away, that takes the edge off and keeps me from binge eating, after that I eat regular food and I don't count or measure.
