I was wondering I started eating more grains and I mean 6-7 servings a day to try and get more fiber. But I notice when I eat over 6 or so grams of fiber in one sitting I get a belly ache really bad. It is because of the grains or fiber. I do get a lot of fiber from fruits and veggies.
Also I was wondering if anyone knows how long homemade beans stay good for in the fridge as well as the freezer.
Thanks
It does it with brown rice and whole wheat pasta also.
How is it possible to get all the fiber with out some whole grains. I can not get enough from the fruits and veggies i eat.
Thanks
Didn't we answer that question in the thread you started the other week?
Have you seen your doctor about your gastro-intestinal problems?
It does not come when I do not eat the grains. Thanks
So are you saying that you haven't seen a doctor?
Yes and he told me to try and stay away from the grains to see before he sends me for tests. When I eat brown rice. multi grain bread, oatmeal pain when I eat white bread white rice nothing feel fine.
Thanks
Have you told him this? It sounds like your problem is fibre rather than grains.
Yes i told him everything. He said try the grains. If it is fiber will it ever be ok for me to eat it as it is healthy for me. Thanks
The only grain that doesn't bother me is basmati rice. All the others make me bloat and give me massive digestive troubles so I don't eat them anymore.
To canadianwoman how do you get all your fiber then. I do eat lots of fruits and veggies but do not get 30g.
Thanks
Canadacatman, we're not gastroenterologists, and even if we were, we can't diagnose you down the internet! The abdominal pain, bloating and diarrhoea that you report are a sign that something is wrong. If your doctor isn't treating this as a problem, go to another doctor. If your doctor is OK but you haven't asked him all these questions, go back and ask him the questions you've thought of since you last saw him.
I do not know your problem but please stay off my threads. I asked their opinion to see if they knew. Now I told my doctor everything and it only happens when I eat grains nothing else. I get some fiber from fruits and nothing. So please stay off my threads.
Thanks
Canadacatman, have you tried something like Metamucil crystals or Benefiber powder that you mix into water and/or foods? Those are commercial products and I'm sure there are other options that can be found in a health food store. Maybe you could try it like a little experiment and see how your body reacts?
Also, while you may already know this, if you click a person's user name there is an option to add them to your ignore list and you'll never see them on your threads again.
Good luck with the fiber.
I never got that far yet. I was reading about Metamucil crystals or Benefiber powder yesterday and am going to get some tomorrow before the stores close to give it a try. See if it is the grains or the fiber. Hope it is just the grains because a cup of brown rice has like 5 grams of fiber and I eat apples and that all day and I think they have like 4 and nothing from them.
Thanks
