Hi everyone
I have had a very bad weekend! Well, it has been great fun but very bad in regards to fasting and food! I had a wedding on friday so I did fast-5 and only ate in the evening, which was fine. Then I had friends to stay Saturday and Sunday and not only did I not fast but I ate all the bad food you can think of and drunk lots of alcohol :D Yesterday I was still in holiday mode as me and my boyfriend had the day off work together so just ate normally. So today I am back on it big style!! I am doing a 24 hour fast today, then Fast-5 for the rest of the week with another 24 hr on Thursday and am looking forward to feeling healthy again! I don't feel guilty for having a weekend off as it is not often we have our friends over all together, but I am a little worried I have undone my 2 weeks of ESE and Fast-5. It sounds like you lot are all doing great anyway! Fab work on the 3lbs lost @Katylil :D |
Hi Everyone! I'm beachside in sunny South Florida. Not a cloud in the sky, and our little hotel is on the beach. Life is good. (forgive my bragging, but when you live in the cold northeast, warm sunshine is a real treat).
We flew in late morning, unpacked, walked to the village and my DH got a burger, I had just coffee, then we went out to a nice dinner - ate a light sea bass, walked around and I had a huge (and I mean huge) ice cream cone. Gotta love IF!!!!! I lost 1 pound last week! I weighed myself before we got on the plane yesterday. I was so hoping to lose more, but at 50+ it just isn't coming off the way it used to. As long as I'm moving in the right direction, I'm happy. It will be interesting to see how this week goes. I'm sure I'll indulge more than usual in desserts, wine, etc, but also walking much more. Have a great IF day everyone. :dancer: |
Congrats Mizzthing on getting to a new decade! 5 lbs is awesome!
Congrats on the unofficial loss Katylil! Keep up the good work! Rosey I was bad all last week. But the beauty of IF is that it really doesn't take long to undo any damage! I am back to my pretrip weight and I missed one of my fasts. Italiannie, great job on the loss! I'm only 33, but I can tell you that even in the last ten years, the weight is A LOT slower to come off. I'm so jealous, I would love to be in Florida right now, although it has been such a warm winter I can't really complain. Have a great day everyone! So I'm doing ESE twice a week and it's crazy but on my non-fasting days, I kind of don't look forward to eating at all, I look forward to dinner, but breakfast and lunch-not at all. Is anyone else like that? |
Thanx wvuchick! Im excited for my trip but a bit concerned about staying on track with my eating window..lets see how it goes.. We will be there for the weekend yay :carrot:
Mizzthingaling congrats on the loss and thanx :) katylil 3 pounds is great,, way to go! Rosey85 sounds like you had a great time with your friends, we all need that once in a while. And with IF you will get back on track with no problem. Italiannie, Florida, how fun!! never been, I am so far anyways but I hope you have a wonderful time :D Happy Tuesday to everyone! |
Thanks Esmi and Wvu. I had too many carbs yesterday and today so I won't be weighing until Thursday or after. I stopped my 8 hr window early and will do a full last tomorrow. I realized when I eat to many carbs I get hungrier.
Congrats on the lost katylil. I'm leaving this weekend too Esmi and I'm trying to figure out an eating window. There will be drinking also. I am going to try to tone that down. |
Thanks guys for the encouragement :)
I did my 24 hour yesterday and apart from 2 episodes of hunger pangs that lasted for about 5 mins around mid morning and mid afternoon I actually managed to forget I was even fasting. By the time it came to cooking tea at 7pm I was still not hungry but I ate a healthy tea of moroccan fish stew with baked aubergine. It is definitely true it takes your body a little time to adapt, in the last couple of hours of my previous 24hr fasts I was feeling shaky and a bit weird but it looks like I have cracked it now (I hope!). @Italianie sounds like you're having a great time on holiday while still fitting in IF, enjoy! |
hi all,
just a quick post as im off to work, have not had time for posts this week as really busy at work but will post soon i did weigh in on monday and stayed the same- which is fine, as maintaining is just as hard as losing ! have been doing fast5 all week and am doing a 24 hour today. am just doing 1 24 hour again and if i stay the same next week then i know i will have to do 2 24 hr fasts. glad you are all doing well. well done Mizzthingaling, 5lbs is amazing( not at all jealous!!),katylil 3 lbs -way to go girl, and esmi and Italiannie- every lb counts! have a great week, and catch up soon. :) |
After a lot of reading and thinking, I'm back to ESE practices. Starting a 24-hour fast this morning with the ambition to push myself to a 36-hour fast. I'm shooting for an average of >1300 calories/day. Eating less overall (not just less carbs) is what helps me manage my blood sugar the best. Exercise wasn't really helping with that at all.
So, cut calories to manage blood sugar and exercise to build muscle and cardio-vascular health. So glad I've finally figured this out! Only took me 51 years! |
Its just too quiet here...
How is everyone doing today? It's beautiful outside here. At least it looks that way from my office window. ;) I went to my doc the other day, to get my blood results. My cholesterol went up despite losing 35 lbs. But my doc was happy that I had lost the weight and wants to wait another 6 months to see if losing more weight helps my cholesterol go down. Fingers crossed :^: Hope everyone is having a great day! Tomorrow is Friday!! :carrot: |
Congrats katylil!
Italiannie, congratulations. It seems you had very good vacation. Will start IF today at 1 pm. |

I've been testing my blood sugar before making the decision to eat. It's helping me to figure out the difference when my brain tells me I want to eat and what my body actually needs. Just got an 82 on my glucometer and my stomach concurs...I get to eat! I'm going to do a second 24-hour fast this week, probably on Saturday. I like how my bathroom scale is behaving now! |
I just read about this yesterday and did research last night and today. The benefits are amazing. The interesting thing is that this is the way I ate until I was about 19 yrs old when everybody convinced me that I had to eat 3 meals a day. I am one of those people who never ate breakfast until then. When I was married and had children I ate 3 meals and even snacks because that was the "healthy" way to eat. I've been married 3 times (lost 2hubbies in death) and in between hubbies, I would go back to eating only 1 sometime 2 meals a day. Just my make up and I would begin to lose weight and keep it off. Then marry and go back to eating the "healthy" 3 meals.
I am type 2 diabetic and in my late 60's. My research was to see what would happen if I went back to eating only 1 or 2x a day being diabetic. It seems from what I read that it would help improve the blood glucose. So I started today and ate a main meal around 1 o'clock. I checked my fasting blood glucose around 7:45 am like I usually do and it was 169. Then I checked it again before I ate around 1 pm and it was 109mg. That is the lowest it has been since I was diagnosed. So needless to say, I am really excited to see it so low. So I will definitely be doing this. The nice thing is that I just had my 3 mo check up and had my blood work done and will have blood work and complete physical 3 months from now and it will be interesting to see how IF has improved my health by then. I would like to be part of this group along the way. I hope to be able to eat one meal a day or no more than 2 as I did in my younger days. I drink water, green and regular tea in between eating. I've had a great day of fasting and haven't missed the food at all. It is nice not to have to think about or worry about food or even thinking that I "have" to eat another meal to fulfill the rule of another diet. |
Hi Everyone! Just checking in. I'm still on my vacation in the sunny warm south. Still doing my Fast-5. Spend the days walking, beaching, reading and then we walk into town and have dinner. I have eaten more dessert and had more wine than usual, but my meals have been very reasonable. It will be interesting to see what the scale says when I get home.
Pattygirl63- Welcome aboard! Your story sounds like many of ours - spending years trying to lose weight and be healthy by eating. Geoblewis- So happy to see that you are enjoying health benefits from IF. It's amazing what happens when we start listening to our bodies. wvuchick - Keep us posted on your blood levels. This is a learning experience for all of us. I hope your cholesterol goes down next time. Glad your doc is happy. 35lbs is fabulous! Rosey85 - Good job on your fast. It's amazing what happens when we just wait those few minutes. Moozie - Just keep going, on the weeks when I don't lose, I try to remember that I'm not gaining, I'm eating pretty much what I want, and I'm still getting the IF benefits. I think you're doing great. Esmi - you'll be fine on your trip, and if you're not perfect, who cares? Princess sophia - Good luck on your fast Gamesmaster - How's it going??? 35 -How are you doing? I know I missed some of you, so my apologies. Don't know if I'll check in over the next couple of days, only one more full day left to vacation, then back to the Northeast. |
Glad you're enjoying your vacation Italiannie. It sounds great.
I had a good 22 hour fast Wednesday. I will be moving my second fast to today because I am going out of town this weekend. It will be a girls weekend so I know I won't be able to do it Saturday. Hopefully my weight will stay down as I indulge a bit. Patty let us know how it goes for you. I am trying to get my mother to do it consistently. |
